A man with a saw climbing a tree that had three cars parked underneath it — that is what a July 2022 reviewer remembered about their first J&J job, and it is the kind of work this Saugus crew gets called for. Dead trees, two huge ones hanging over a house in October 2022, and in a January 2022 project, twenty at once including a damaged maple with a five-foot trunk.
Price is the next thing customers bring up. The homeowner with the twenty trees collected multiple quotes and said Jose's came in competitive and in line with the others. A December 2021 customer hiring for 30-plus trees, 9 to 30-plus inches across, agreed the price on a Saturday and had the crew starting Monday. In April 2026 a homeowner had a tree trimmed at a competitive price, on time, with the site cleaned afterwards; in October 2025 another said the crew was done in under two hours and took care of the fallen branches.
Cleanup comes up almost as often. A May 2021 customer said the property was left completely clean, barely a leaf on the ground; an October 2022 reviewer wrote that the crew cleaned up like they were never there.
There is a second half to the business. On Thumbtack, where the profile is listed as JJ'S Outdoor and reviewers name Jeremias rather than Jose, the work is landscaping: a June 2018 customer listed a new front lawn, redone flower beds, mulch, gravel around the garage, trenches dug for underground gutters, seeding and fertilizing the back lawn, and above-ground sprinklers. In April 2020 a reviewer had a bumpy mud pit turned into a flat artificial turf surface in two days, about 15% under competing bids, and in May 2021 another got a new patio and front walkway. An April 2024 customer had three workers spread soil with a bobcat in two hours.
The platforms do not agree on the size or the score. Angi and HomeAdvisor both show 5.0 from 15 reviews and say six years of experience, Spanish service, free estimates and warranties; Thumbtack lists nine years, five employees, 61 hires and 4.6 from 55 ratings, 5% of them one star.
For tree removal and trimming around Saugus — a dead tree, a limb over the roof, a lot to clear — customers from 2021 through this April describe the same things: on time, the price as agreed, the site cleaned before they go. Get the quote in writing, confirm whether logs and stumps go with them (a July 2021 customer had stumps hauled away, an April 2024 one had the wood logs taken), and if the job is landscaping rather than tree work, ask which crew and which of the two names is running it.
