J and R Fine Landscaping builds patios and stonework. Its BBB profile lists Jim Goddard as president of a sole proprietorship started in 2004, with an Andover address and a second location in North Reading. A 2010 article on nshoremag.com said J and R was one of just a few companies on the North Shore that use Goshen stone, a stone from western Massachusetts. A 2022 customer said Jim and his team installed the patio under their deck, turning an area that was unusable into a place to sit out of the sun. A 2023 customer said their patio was done incorrectly, that it took almost 3 months before the company came out to fix it, and that they were still not satisfied. A 2011 customer said the tree work was good but that a number of heavy objects were not put back where they had been.

Zero stars were not an option so I had to put 1. Do not hire. We hired to install a patio and a few other things. Patio was done incorrectly. When we approached them to fix it took almost 3 months before they actually came out to fix and we are still not satisfied. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere.
Jim and his team did a great job installing the patio under my deck. An area that was unusable prior to the work being done is now a great area for us to sit under our deck out of the sun and really enjoy beautiful days.
They did a good job with the tree work, but did not put a number of heavy objects back where I found them. I was also told that I overpaid.
