A recent customer said the team at Jack's HVAC helped troubleshoot a multi-zone ducted heat pump and propane furnace that wouldn't function, and praised the diagnostics and remediation. On its website, the company describes pairing a high-efficiency gas furnace with a heat pump coil and an outdoor compressor to create a hybrid heat or "dual fuel" system, and it names Chittenden, Franklin and Grand Isle as its service area. It says it has been in business 15 years. A 2022 customer said Jack's installed an AC compressor on their existing forced air system, arrived on time, handled the electrical aspects as well, and finished in one day. A 2024 customer described a decade-long experience with Jack's and said the company had been helpful when they had problems in the years after the initial install. A 2024 Reddit commenter in r/vermont said craftsmanship, professionalism and speed of install were all good. In a 2023 r/vermont comment, a poster recommended Jack's HVAC in Milton for very good workmanship and said it handles all the rebates and credits them directly to the quote. A 2025 customer said an initial heat pump install went fine, but the system then had a puncture that drained the coolant and the upstairs unit malfunctioned after a few months, each bringing a service charge. That customer said a later visit spent an hour confirming a thermistor code they had already given and was charged again.
“We used Jack's (now owned by Bourne's (now owned by Dead River out of Maine)). Craftsmanship, professionalism, and speed of install were all good.”
“Jacks HVAC in Milton. Super nice guy. Very good workmanship. Handles all the rebates and will just credit you directly to your quote.”
The Team at Jack's HVAC/Bourne's have really helped us out with troubleshooting a multi-zone ducted heat pump/propane furnace that wouldn't function. A+ diagnostics, remediation, and courage to take on the task!
Initial heat pump install went fine. Shortly after the install was not fine, system had a puncture and drained all the coolant out, service charge. Then the upstairs unit malfunctioned after only a few months, service charge. Now we’re having issues with the outdoor unit thermistors, I told them the code, and they spend an hour at my house to determine it was the code I already told them about and are charging yet again, a 300$ service charge. This is ridiculous and in the future we will be going with another company. I don’t know if it’s after the merge with Bournes, but something is wrong here.
We have had a decade-long experience dealing with Jack's. Both the knowledgeable technicians and responsive support staff do a really great job. Beyond being reliable on installation, they have been very helpful when we had some problems in the years after the initial install. Some places would want to just focus on new business, we appreciate their excellent aftercare and value they place on past customers. Jack, the founder, instilled this valuable spirit in his team. Thank you, all!.
I contacted Jacks/Bourne's to install an AC compressor today to my already existing forced air system. They arrived on time and did excellent work. They handled the electrical aspects as well, which was a relief to not have to hire another company. Very professional, clean and timely work. Finished it all in one day (9-5). Highly recommend them for any work that needs to be done and will be using them in the future to service my system.
