Jackson Plumbing & Heating is an Old Town shop that says it handles plumbing, heating and service contracts for oil and natural gas, and that it is on call 24 hours a day for emergencies. It names Old Town, Bangor, Jackson, Orono and Brewer as its service area. A recent customer says the company has handled an oil conversion, a septic backup and a water heater that exploded, and fixed the water heater in a day. In 2024, a customer said the company converted the home from oil to natural gas, finished in the time it quoted and fixed a few hiccups after the installation right away. A 2024 customer wrote that the heat went out and was running again less than an hour later. In 2024, a landlord thanked Chris for fixing the furnace during the December 2023 power outage, when the basement flooded and the sump pump could not run. A 2025 customer said a leaking bathroom fitting was fixed within a half hour. A recent reviewer whose landlord hired the company over the winter says the workers did not use shoe covers despite a note asking for them, and left puddles of dirty salt water on white carpets. A customer lined up for a natural gas conversion says the company stopped returning emails and calls when it came time to book. A customer of 27 years says a technician forced the anchors out of the wall while installing a faucet for a pedestal sink, and calls the owner condescending. In 2021, a customer said a drill through the wall during a natural gas installation cut the wiring to an outlet, which an electrician later found.
Landlord hired these guys over the winter. They do not use shoe covers when entering your home even in winter. The second time they were given directions to remove shoes or use covers and a clear a note was also placed in view upon entering. All of this was was ignored. They left puddles of dirty salt water all over the white carpets that seeped in all day. Salt and pebbles from the outside were all over the place. Puddles of dirty water all over the floor. We had to get all the carpets cleaned professionally the first time and buy a carpet cleaner ourselves the second time. Response to owner: Per property manager you were told about shoe covers or taking shoes off. I also left a clear bold note at the entrance that you can't miss. My wife verbally told one of your guys in the parking lot the first time about messing up. Property manager hired you, so they also reached out about this after. In what world do you think shoe covers or temporary floor covers would not be needed in this situation? Who wants that mess in their house?! Basic cleaning of debris/mess from the job is part of the job.
Not sure what happened, but they have disappeared. I had them lined up for a natural gas conversion. Pricing, solution, and communication were great. Then right when it came time to book it, they stopped returning emails or picking up the phone. I lost a lot of time and ended up having to shift to a more expensive plumber.
After 27 years with Jackson Plumping and three failed installs over the past 6 years, I’m done. Two weeks ago while installing a faucet for a pedestal sink, the technician forced the anchors out of the wall. I called the owner and told him after three failed installs he had to come to my house. He discounted my frustration and claimed the sink was already loose. The owner was condescending, rude, and abrasive. I refused to have them return. He said I could pay the bill or not, and I won’t. Jackson’s will spin a reply denying they are at fault and I’m a bitter customer, but they will be lying.
We have used Jackson for an oil conversion, a septic back up, and a water heater literally exploding. They have always been so quick to respond. They fixed the exploded water heater in a day. Would gladly use again and again.
Excellent tradesmen and excellent service! This is the 2nd time I’ve used Jackson Plumbing and Heating for some smaller repairs as a first time homeowner. The first time I called I needed a new mixer installed on some copper piping and I was not comfortable brazing the copper myself. They installed the new mixer as well as the new shower head and faucet in no time and took extreme care during the small amount of demo that was required in order to access the work area. They charged a very reasonable rate and the folks in the office were extremely pleasant to deal with in terms of scheduling and payment. This most recent time, it was my downstairs bathroom leaking at a fitting. I certainly could have tried messing with it myself but I knew Jackson would get it done fast, right, and not charge me an arm and a leg. Not only did they come quickly; they even reached out to let me know they could squeeze me in sooner if it worked for me. They fixed the problem within a half hour and they left no trace that they were there besides my no longer leaking fitting! I would recommend these guys to anyone and will be contacting them next year to discuss getting me hooked up with natural gas!
