Jeffreys Creek Land Contractors, Inc. works out of 180 Southern Ave in Essex, Massachusetts, and calls itself a land contractor rather than a landscaper. Its own site says it has provided landscape construction on Boston's North Shore since 1985, and it works either design-build with the homeowner or under a landscape architect. The scope is broad and heavy: landscape construction, stone masonry, hardscaping and paver work, patios, retaining walls, outdoor kitchens and fireplaces, water features, earthwork, grading and site preparation, drainage and dry wells, irrigation and landscape lighting, plantings and sod, and snow plowing. Houzz shows 28 project galleries in Boxford, Essex, Gloucester and Ipswich, and lists typical job costs from $5,000 up to $1,000,000. The customer record is uniformly positive and largely dated. Nineteen reviews are on file across four sources spanning 2017 to January 2026, and every single one is five stars — Google shows 5 stars from 6 ratings and Houzz 5.0 from 12. Most of the written accounts were posted in 2017 and 2018. What those accounts describe is consistently the hard end of the trade. In a November 2018 review a client on a very steeply sloped Gloucester site praised the stonework for matching the aesthetic and the historic character of the village, and said the construction was organised so as to minimise disruption to the property. In another November 2018 review an oceanside homeowner whose back garden was mostly rock described it being transformed, with a fire pit installed and the patio rebuilt. An April 2018 reviewer building a new home described bluestone walkways, a patio and stone walls plus irrigation installed to establish new plantings, and said they had stayed on for full-service maintenance. A May 2024 Google reviewer credited John with the design stage and Laura with the plantings, and a January 2026 reviewer named Pete. Two caveats on how that record is composed. Two of the twelve Houzz reviewers are industry parties rather than homeowners — a builder writing as a repeat commercial client, describing everything from roughly $10,000 site work to complete site, landscape and hardscape packages around $400,000 and praising the quoting, cost engineering and invoicing, and a landscape designer opening 'As a landscape designer, it is a pleasure to work with Jeffreys Creek'. Those are informed voices but they are not customer experiences of a domestic job. Separately, five of the twelve Houzz reviews carry the same date in April 2018, which reads as a one-off request-for-reviews push rather than anything manufactured: the bodies vary widely in length and describe distinct, specific projects. On credentials, the only thing on file is a Massachusetts Certified Landscape Professional designation, MCLP #1100, listed in Houzz's business details, alongside self-reported Certified Irrigation Technicians. Those are trade certifications, not a state contractor registration. Because this firm does masonry, patios, paving and retaining walls rather than planting alone, it sits outside the landscaping-only exemption, so ask directly for its Home Improvement Contractor registration and check it with the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation, and ask for insurance certificates before a large site or drainage job.

Great experience with Jeffrey's Creek! Redoing the layout of our property and designing our plantings has made a huge difference in our property. John was easy to work with in the design stage, the crew was excellent in getting all the work done, and Laura's eye in plantings was terrific.

Jeffrey's Creek has completed 2 projects for us over the past several years. John redesigned our back yard- a fun project. The second project, not so much fun, but John came down to our home and we cannot say enough about John's crew and their ability to get things done.
