Paint is only half of what people hire JM for. The reviews keep pairing it with carpentry: rotted trim and window sills replaced before an exterior repaint in August 2023, clapboards and damaged screens swapped out in June 2022, siding and trim repaired ahead of paint for a homeowner who wrote in October 2023 about five years of jobs. John Michael runs the business out of Westford. Its site describes an owner-operated shop where he reviews every project with the homeowner, doing interior and exterior painting and staining — decks and sheds included — wallpaper removal and general home repairs, in Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore products. Angi's profile claims 29 years of experience; the BBB file puts the business start at 2015 with two employees and lists it as Not Rated, saying it lacks sufficient information. The Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active in John Michael's name. The written history is long and mostly dated: Angi shows 4.8 from 118 ratings with the individual accounts running 2016 into 2022, while Google's 4.9 from 10 ratings carries entries as late as January 2025. The older ones are where the harder jobs sit — a wallpapered foyer with a 16-foot ceiling and a two-story staircase stripped, patched and painted from metal staging planks in 2017; dark trim taken to white through a whole house in 2016; a 2017 wallpaper job that ran two hours past the estimate with no extra charge. In a May 2024 review, a homeowner said the crew covered the car in the driveway before starting the exterior and taught them a few repair techniques along the way. One account runs far harder against that. In July 2021 an Angi customer rated the company half a star: the work itself was okay, they wrote, but the owner would not address the spots they said were missed, and then mocked their culture and race, telling them it was his country and that they should get out. Angi's profile shows the business posted a public reply disputing the review.
