In the past three years I have had poor experiences with contractors as I renovated my house and barn and connected the two with a sunroom and mudroom. The first contractor finished work on the barn without one signed off change order (just conversations regarding some changes), finished the job, left and four months later sent me an invoice for 2x the cost of what they had estimated. A second contractor listened to my sob story and noted good communication and honesty is key in this business. I thought I had found an upfront GC. He promptly finished half the job and I had already paid him $20k over estimate - when he texted me saying he was shuttering his company and said "Sorry but that's all I can do and never came back". Come to find out he had started a new company and had a live website up and running and was building a house in Hull. Strike two. I was watching my money disappear and completely downhearted when I met Stephanie & Chris from JMM Construction - A Woman Owned Company. They were excellent from the start. They were friendly, great communicators, had a portal where they posted daily logs, schedules & timelines. Every change order was posted in the portal for my approval and every payment made through the portal online with a record of everything. They did spectacular work and had excellent sub-contractors who cared as much as I did. I cannot give JMM a high enough rating for my review.
