The most useful thing written about Joseph P Gill is a March 2025 review from a repeat customer: Joe had done a lot of work for them over the years, and most recently ran power out to a shed in the back yard — on time, and at a price they called reasonable. That is a small job described plainly by someone who kept calling him back. Google shows 4.5 stars from two ratings. Day to day this reads as a small-ticket residential electrician out of 6 Kara Ln in Methuen: panel changes, a service upgrade from 100 to 200 amps, a pool circuit, a basement room, at permit values averaging around $1,200. The licensing page is where care is needed. BuildZoom runs an alert reading "No active license on file" and lists six records, none of them confirmed current — a Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration and two construction supervisor licences, all inactive and each described as at one point cancelled, plus city registrations BuildZoom never verified, last seen expiring in December 2022. Ask Gill directly for his Massachusetts electrician licence number and confirm it with the state before scheduling work. One more caution about that same page: the 77 permits on it should not be read as one man's record. They run from Springfield to West Dennis on Cape Cod, several are not electrical work at all — a $40,000 detached garage, $85,000 of structural masonry repairs in Brookline, a $150,000 commercial kitchen conversion — and the page lists four different Joseph Gill name variants as owners. More than one same-named contractor looks to have been folded into a single profile. For a shed circuit, a panel swap or a service upgrade, the written history is small and positive. Get the licence number first, then ask for two recent addresses you can call.

Joe has done a lot of work for me in the past and I’ve always been very happy with it. Most recently he ran power out to a shed in my backyard. He got it done in a timely manner, and was reasonably priced. I highly recommend him for any electrical needs.
