Key Stone Carvings fabricates and installs custom stone from a showroom at 1 Rebel Road in Hudson, New Hampshire, and also takes on kitchen, bathroom and outdoor-kitchen design and install work. The company says it was founded in 2009 by Freddy Pihl and Dee Dee Hawxhurst — 17 years — on the principle of producing a beautiful product with top-notch customer service, and lists membership of the NH Home Builders Association and the National Kitchen & Bath Association among its affiliations. The trade knows them. A January 2024 reviewer who worked with the shop for years as a kitchen designer said their new employer, a builder, now uses Key Stone exclusively. A 2018 Houzz review from the kitchen firm Dream Kitchens described five years of working together, and a second Houzz reviewer — an interior designer — said she returns again and again with her own clients for countertops, shower thresholds and shelves, and used the shop for her own kitchen and bathroom. Homeowners name the people who show up. A February 2026 customer credited Victor and his crew for the install, a January 2024 customer credited Lewis and the installation team, and an October 2024 customer said Alan came to the house and stayed patient through several changes of mind. An August 2026 reviewer said the shop delivered on a tight timeline and budget, singling out Amanda for coordinating an unusual job. The complaints are specific and worth reading before you book. A May 2026 customer said three rescheduled dates, a broken saw and a broken slab turned a quoted 10-to-14-day install into 23 days. In October 2022 a homeowner who chose the shop specifically for its quick turnaround said the work was indeed done fast, but the final invoice came in more than $2,000 above the estimate, and said they would be unlikely to recommend the company. Stone selection is a consistent draw. A July 2026 customer said the showroom had beautiful stone for every taste and that the price seemed reasonable; a March 2023 customer picked a granite slab at the facility with Dee Dee's help; and the second Houzz reviewer pointed to an extensive remnant inventory useful for smaller jobs and smaller budgets. This is a good fit for a countertop or backsplash job where you want to choose the slab in person and work with a shop the local design trade uses. Get the estimate in writing with the extras itemised, and pin the schedule down — from template to install — before you sign.
“Freddie at keystone carvings in Hudson.”
Many thanks to Key Stone Carvings for creating an absolutely beautiful work of art on such a tight timeline & budget. From Start to finish; sales through design /layout, manufacturing & final Installation. Do yourself a favor, the Key Stone team definitely has you Covered! Amanda is not your typical representative or “point of contact,” rather, Amanda is a TRUE Team leader! Her ability to fully appreciate our unique circumstances then diligently navigating and coordinate the process tailored to our individual situation, made a near impossible outcome & timeline, remarkably possible! We can’t be happier or stress enough, that it’s not hyperbole to say Amanda sets a NEW Gold Standard definition in customer service; unequaled and refreshing…. A special shoutout also to Leo for a fast and accurate on-site layout that allowed rapid manufacturing turnaround, and the final installation to be such a pleasant, quick & hassle-free, “drop-in” experience. Thank you TEAM Key Stone! Kindest Regards, John & Patty
We are super pleased with our new granite countertops , the whole process was excellent, they offer such beautiful stone for all tastes we loved ours the second we chose it in the showroom and the priced seemed very reasonable , the installers as well were so proffessional and it fit perfectly and they caulked it in for that really finished feel , we are so happy feels like a dream .
I hired this company to redo my countertops and backsplash, but I’ve come to realize I didn’t hire a stone company—I hired a comedy of errors. After three rescheduled dates, I’ve learned that their equipment is apparently held together by hopes and dreams (RIP to the broken saw) and their slabs have the structural integrity of a saltine cracker, (RIP, broken slab). I was worried , my grandkids would be the ones to inherit the backsplash. The 10-14 install turned into 23 days. If you enjoy the thrill of a 'mystery' install date that moves more than a nomad, this is the team for you." Took a month but finally done.
Victor and his crew did an amazing job on the recent install. Like all installs he does
10/10 perfect job, you have to see it to believe it
