Koni Builders works out of 101 Mill Rd in Everett and presents itself as an owner-led general contractor; its Thumbtack page names Gleison Cavalcante as the owner and shows a background check completed in July 2025, alongside ten employees. The company says it handles whole-home remodels, kitchens, baths, additions and exterior carpentry across Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine, and Houzz puts a typical job between $10,000 and $100,000. The specifics all come from 2025. In October a homeowner described a back deck rebuilt and rotted exterior trim replaced quickly and cleanly, inside both budget and timeline. Another that month wrote about a cold, empty basement turned into a living space by a crew they called respectful and skilled, at a price they thought fair for the quality. A customer writing in July 2025 had the house painted and said everything agreed on arrived on time, and more than one reviewer names Gleison working alongside the crew. One thing to hold in mind: the three reviews on the Thumbtack page are copies of the Google ones, so the written history is thinner than the separate counts suggest. Licensing is the thing to press on. BuildZoom shows no active licence on file for the company, and the single entry it carries is a masonry code-course number it says it could not verify — a reason to ask, not a verdict. BuildZoom also scores the company 0, which it says does not rank in the top half of Massachusetts contractors. Tenure is inconsistent too: the company's own site claims 15 years in business, while its Thumbtack profile says six. A reasonable call for mid-size carpentry and remodeling in Greater Boston where having the owner on site matters. Before signing anything, ask for the Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration number, current liability and workers' comp certificates, and a written scope.
