The pair you hire is the pair you get: John Lancaster works on site, and his wife Kim runs scheduling and client communication. Clients name both, often in the same sentence, and several are on their third or fourth job with the company — one January 2025 client's fourth was a laundry space, home office and bathroom added onto the house. Lancaster works out of Natick. The BBB records it as a one-person sole proprietorship started in July 2016, grades it A+ and notes it is not accredited. Subcontractors come in for plumbing and electric; a June 2025 client said John's own carpentry was the best part of the job and that his subs held to his specifications. The Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active in John Lancaster's name. The work is whole rooms and additions rather than repairs. A 1926 Colonial's kitchen was gutted and rebuilt in summer 2022. A primary bathroom came back to the studs in a February 2022 project. October 2023 brought a kitchen and master bath together; December 2021, a living room reworked; October 2024, a shed finished into usable space. In July 2025 a client with a sloping backyard got a deck built to follow the grade and line up with the house and the fence. And in May 2022, a homeowner who had hired an architect for a major redesign — an addition, walls removed, ceilings raised — met several contractors and picked Lancaster. Timelines come up again and again. A August 2023 client always knew what was happening next and when; a November 2021 project came in on time, on budget and exactly to spec; a January 2025 client credited John with keeping pace when the job threw obstacles. Two things to know before you call. The Angi profile says the company is booking projects for spring and summer of 2027, so this is a plan-ahead hire. And the experience claims do not agree: that profile's highlights claim 25 years, while the BBB file records the business starting on 29 July 2016. If you are planning a kitchen, a bath, an addition or a deck around Natick and can wait for a slot, this is a strong fit. Ask which subcontractors he brings for plumbing and electric, and where your job would land in the 2027 queue.
Working with John and his team was an absolute pleasure. I truly can't speak highly enough of their professionalism and dedication. Kim's communication about John and the rest of the team was also outstanding—clear, timely, and helpful throughout. John stood out for his flexibility and responsiveness, always ready to answer questions or consider suggestions. Fortunately, our project only encountered a few minor curveballs, all of which were handled smoothly and confidently. What impressed me most was John's pride in his work. One day, he noticed a small detail that most wouldn't have caught—but it bothered him enough to rebuild it until it was perfect. That kind of care and commitment is exactly what you want in someone working on your home.
John and Kim have delivered what we asked for as always in the several years that we have known them. Our backyard is not flat and John built a solid deck in harmony with the ground inclination, the house style and the fence. Kim has provided support on all small modifications of the project and kept us updated on John's daily arrival and activity. We are very satisfied with the results.
John and his crew do great work. John's carpentry work is excellent. His sub-contractors meet all of his specifications and are dedicated to a job well done. John and Kim are very easy to work with and communicate well through the entire project. We will definitely use Lancaster Home Remodeling again!
This was our 4th project with Lancaster Home Remodeling and as we have had in the past, it was a great experience with wonderful results! This time our project was the addition of a laundry space, home office, and bathroom and the addition turned out amazing! John and Kim are wonderful and easy to work with and communicate well throughout. We highly recommend them to anyone in the area looking to do work on their home!
John and Kim were a pleasure to work with. They communicated well and were very responsive whenever I had questions, both before and during my project. The quality of John's work was excellent and his dedication to getting the job done as quickly as possible, even in the face of some very cold weather, was impressive.
