Lawn Doctor of Boston has built its reputation on volume: 4.9 stars across 1,016 Google ratings, backed by a review history stretching back to 2022. The pattern inside it holds up under a closer look — technicians who show up, explain the plan, and leave the yard knowing what happened to it. That shows up again and again in the last few months. Dan met one customer at the door to walk through the day's plan before starting; Matt checked in about questions and concerns first; Wayne spent enough time on-site that the customer picked up a few lawn-care tips of their own. Justin and Joseph got called out by name for a lime application. One customer who'd spent years with a competitor that just dropped fertilizer and mailed a slip switched this year and noticed the difference right away: an email flagging an actual problem with the lawn instead of a form letter. It isn't uniform. One customer checked their ring camera after a visit and found only a few wet spots near the fence — not the full front-and-back weed-and-fertilizer application they'd been expecting — and said so on Google rather than let it go. Another, around the same time, said the technician moved through the job quickly but didn't seem to seed every area that needed it. Two specific complaints against 26 reviews in the last six months isn't a pattern, but both point to the same thing worth confirming up front: ask a technician to walk the property with you, front and back, and spell out exactly what got applied where. Everything here runs through Google — no BBB profile turned up, and the Houzz, Thumbtack, Angi, and Best Pick pages that surfaced either belong to a different Lawn Doctor franchise or aren't a real profile for this one. That's a real gap in outside corroboration, though a 700-plus-review history on one channel still counts for something. For routine treatments — fertilization, weed control, lime application, aeration and overseeding — this is a high-volume local option where the person doing the spraying tends to explain themselves. Ask them to confirm coverage before they leave, and you're most of the way to knowing what you paid for.

My first year with Lawn Doctor, but at this point I am very pleased. The communication and service has been excellent. Since we have water restrictions due to severe drought conditions, that presents a challenge to keeping the lawn green. But I’m glad I have their expertise to guide me through this difficult stretch.

I used another company for lawn care for many years and got tired of them taking my money, dropping a bunch of fertilizer, and telling me it would “improve the color” in their slip they left in the mailbox. So I decided I needed a switch this year and so far it has been great. Lawn Doctor is great about telling me when they will show up, they show up when promised, and the lawn looks ok. The best part is that for the first time I just got an email telling me that the tech actually noticed a problem and they had a suggested remediation. Never got that with the old place. So far so good. The only reason they get 4 out of 5 is that I haven’t made it through a full season with them yet.
