Lawn Doctor of Boston is a franchise lawn-care operation, and across hundreds of reviews the calling card is less about any one person than a training habit: whichever technician shows up — reviews name dozens, from Wayne to Rodrigo to Felipe to Christopher — tends to knock on the door, explain what's being applied that day, and answer questions before starting. Google shows a 4.9-star average from 1,016 ratings, and specific jobs back it up: an aeration-and-overseeding visit gets called out by name, a lime application gets the same treatment, and a nutsedge-weed problem was walked through on-site with photos taken and a follow-up plan promised. Longer-tenured customers describe real payoff — in a 2025 review, one 15-year homeowner described grass dying back with dead roots and holes before calling in Lawn Doctor, and another 2025 review credited the monthly weed-and-fertilizer plan with eliminating bare spots and brown patches. A recent review from someone switching companies this year said the previous outfit used to just drop fertilizer and mail a slip claiming it would help; this one, they said, has been a clear improvement so far. Two recent reviews are worth knowing about before booking. In June 2026, a customer checked their ring camera and found only a small wet patch near a fence and patio rather than the full front-and-back treatment they expected. In April 2026, another gave 3 stars because they didn't believe the technician had spread seed everywhere it was needed. Both point the same way: confirm coverage of the full yard, especially fenced-in or hard-to-see sections, before the technician leaves. This reads like a solid pick for an ongoing lawn program — weed control, fertilization, aeration and overseeding, lime — built on a consistent explain-as-you-go habit across a large technician roster rather than one specialist. Worth a quick walk of the yard with the tech before they go, given the couple of coverage complaints above.
Always courteous and friendly. Takes care to not damage any elements of the landscape.
My first year with Lawn Doctor, but at this point I am very pleased. The communication and service has been excellent. Since we have water restrictions due to severe drought conditions, that presents a challenge to keeping the lawn green. But I’m glad I have their expertise to guide me through this difficult stretch.
I used another company for lawn care for many years and got tired of them taking my money, dropping a bunch of fertilizer, and telling me it would “improve the color” in their slip they left in the mailbox. So I decided I needed a switch this year and so far it has been great. Lawn Doctor is great about telling me when they will show up, they show up when promised, and the lawn looks ok. The best part is that for the first time I just got an email telling me that the tech actually noticed a problem and they had a suggested remediation. Never got that with the old place. So far so good. The only reason they get 4 out of 5 is that I haven’t made it through a full season with them yet.
Very friendly and gave me good tips about lawn care:)
Great work and explanation of service performed.
