Lugg is an on-demand moving and delivery app, launched out of Y Combinator's Summer 2015 class, that connects customers with a truck and movers on short notice for furniture delivery, moving help, and large-item pickups. It operates in dozens of metro areas nationwide, including Boston and Worcester, MA and Providence, RI, and has partnered with retailers like Costco for same-day delivery. On Google, the company is rated 4.9 stars from 1,762 ratings, and its reviews consistently describe named two-person crews handling specific, sometimes difficult jobs with care: a heavy marble table, an heirloom mirror wrapped for transport, an adjustable bed system carried up a narrow staircase and reassembled, a heavy dresser moved with photos taken to confirm the customer's satisfaction before setup. A Reddit commenter who used the service repeatedly across several cities, including Boston, described consistently wonderful experiences and prices that felt fair. A pattern worth understanding before booking: because pricing is largely time-based, several reviewers describe costs adding up quickly on jobs that took longer than expected, in one case reaching $250 for a single bookcase move and, in a 2026 review, a 2-star complaint that a short job of nine small items took five hours. Reddit discussion also notes that Lugg operates as a marketplace connecting customers with independent contract movers rather than a traditional moving company, which several commenters said is worth keeping in mind when comparing prices and deciding whether to tip. With 877 reviews recorded since 2021 and 383 in the last six months alone (only one negative), the overwhelming pattern is fast, careful, positively reviewed moves, with the main caution being to get a clear sense of the time-based pricing before booking, especially for jobs that might run long.
“I’ve used lugg in the past and it’s usually been successful for me, especially for shorter distances.”
“quick moving advice - Lugg or task rabbit?”
“I recently had my hours at my job drastically reduced, so i am looking for side work. i did moving in the past and figured i would try this out...it sure beats not having any $ coming in... i ran into 2 problems...one is that i have a "pay as you go" cellphone plan...and you can't sign up and do the app as a helper/driver if you have that...the website said you need an "unlimited plan"....second, to be a "driver" your truck needs to have a bed "Minimum 6-foot bed length and 4.5-foot bed width"...so a Honda Ridgeline truck is not okay....both my fault but i would love to hear more stories of pe”
“Anyone heard of these apps? Lugg, Muvr, and Dolly.”
“The app sent me all over the area, spent 60$ on gas and only made 140$”
“created an on-demand moving app that secured partnerships with major retailers like Costco, making same-day delivery accessible and affordable across the United States”
Excellent Costco Pickup, Delivery, and Queen Bed-Frame Assembly I had a great experience with Lugg for Costco pickup, delivery, and assembly of a queen bed frame. I booked everything through the app, which was very user-friendly. The team answered all my questions and helped make the entire experience smooth and hassle-free. Boris and Francisco were punctual, professional, and exceptionally helpful throughout the job. They handled the Costco pickup and in-home delivery efficiently, carefully moved the large boxes into the house, and assembled the bed frame quickly and securely. The service saved me from having to rent a vehicle, transport a bulky purchase, and deal with assembly myself. I would gladly use Lugg again—and would be happy to have Boris and Francisco help with a future delivery. Bravo Lugg..
If I really think about it, not great could have hired official movers! It took 5 hours to move 9 item, of which included rattan dining chairs, about 5 pounds each! The pair kept doing everything together and I caught on they were purposefully moving slow as Lugg charges per minute. I just couldn’t believe it took 20 minutes between getting an item from my apartment to the truck and back up. Realistically this move should have been hour and half total!!!!!! Since they are paid by the minute beware.
Lugg was fantastic! I bought a sofa at Costco Los Feliz for my mom, but it was too big to fit in my car. After searching, I called a few places for pricing, but Lugg was the most reasonable and affordable. Since there was no phone number and everything happened through the app, I was a little skeptical, but happy to report back that they were amazing. Sam gave quick, professional responses to my many questions via chat. Constantino and Jose showed up within the allotted window. They were scheduled to arrive between 1-2pm and arrived a few minutes after 1pm. Due to an inventory snag, we had to wait about 20 minutes for Costco to find the sofa. Thankfully I wasn't charged extra for the wait. Constantino and Jose were professional the entire time, careful with the sofa, and made the whole pickup painless. I'd use Lugg again without hesitation.
Phil & joase were fantastic. Would definitely recommend again
These movers were exceptional. I will only be using them moving forward. Such hard workers. Love them. Professional and efficient. Hire them if you can!
