M&R Masonry, run by Rudy (Rudiberto) Lopez out of Saugus, is a family-run outfit whose work spans nearly every stone-and-concrete job a house needs — chimneys, walkways, patios, stairs, retaining walls, and foundation repair. Chimney work comes up again and again: repointing, full rebuilds, and repair jobs the crew is quick to spot even on properties they aren't working on — one reviewer described Rudy noticing their chimney was in bad shape while working next door and flagging it before it got worse. Reviewers describe steady, detail-oriented work on bigger projects too: a roughly 400-square-foot sidewalk replacement, a basement laundry room floor rebuilt from a decaying slab into finished tile, and a set of stone stairs cut and built over a two-day stretch. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active, it holds a Thumbtack Top Pro badge for 2021 and 2022 with a background-checked owner, and its BBB page carries an A+ rating, though the business isn't BBB-accredited. Not every account is smooth. Two 2022 reviews stand apart from the rest: one describes roughly three months of delayed start dates before the contractor said he couldn't find workers or someone to pull the permit, and another calls the response time very late and the customer service unprofessional. Both predate several years of steady positive reviews since, including four in the past six months, none negative. One thing to square away before hiring: the company's own site says it has served the Saugus area since 2001, self-reporting 25 years in business, while its BBB profile lists just 6 years in business — worth asking Rudy directly which reflects the current entity. Call them for chimney work or a bigger stone or concrete project like a patio, walkway, or retaining wall; get a firm start date in writing given the one delayed-project complaint.
Great work. Easy to work with. Highly recommend
Rudy and his team did an amazing job rebuilding our steps, adding new rails, and putting in a new granite walkway. He was very attuned to our needs for increased and safe accessibility for people who have mobility challenges. Everyone was efficient and precise and the cleanup was stellar. Highly recommend M&R Masonry.
So glad I found Rudy and his crew. He came out fave and estimate that was fair and reasonable and said he could do a glass block window in our basement the next day! His guys were great. Knew just what to do, cleaned up after themselves, and left us with a job well done! Thanks Rudy, we’ll be calling again
My chimney base was in need of repair. I contacted M&R Masonry (first time customer) and spoke with Rudi, who was very responsive and respectful. He and his team did an excellent job with the repair. Thank you Rudi and Team!
We had our chimney removed and rebuilt this year by M&R Masonry. All went smoothly from beginning through completion. When we called for information, Rudy got back to us immediately. Rudy and his team are very professional and skilled and completed the project quickly. We are extremely happy with the results! I highly recommend M&R Masonry.
