A homeowner writing in November 2018 described Sean Braney's crews repairing exterior woodwork, treating mold and mildew, and painting the cedar siding, trim, doors, windows, decks and porches of a house more than 20 years old. They also described repairs and a ceiling-to-floor renovation inside the garage. Braney says he formed The Mad Hatter in Boston in 2000 and moved to Cape Cod two years later. The written Google accounts date from 2017 to 2022. In an October 2022 review, a customer seeking replacement of house trim with Azek praised a detailed explanation of the work and a quote separating painting from carpentry at their request. They said other costs were itemized so they could choose which work to have done, and that the crew worked thoroughly and cleaned the site every night. A July 2020 reviewer said Braney visited the day after their request for a re-shingling quote, provided an estimate promptly, and that the subsequent work was completed professionally and in a timely manner. In October 2017, another customer described a wooden fence repair that replaced staves and crossbars, followed by repainting. They said this saved the fence from full replacement, and also praised deck and house painting completed on time and true to the estimate.
