Six companies quoted a window replacement job. One of them itemized it. In an April 2026 review, the homeowner said Peter Merrill was the only owner of the six who broke the price down the way they had asked for. Main Street Handyman works out of Fremont, and the jobs run the whole range between a dripping fixture and a deck built from scratch. Its Better Business Bureau page is accredited with an A+ grade, listing handyman services plus minor plumbing and electrical, and showing licence numbers GFE0700773 and 2887. Decks have become a line of their own. A September 2026 customer called the estimate extremely reasonable and said Peter communicated at nearly every step of the build. A May 2026 customer had one designed and built and picked out the framing, railings, stairs and trim as precise work. A May 2025 deck finished faster than expected even after an outdoor outlet was added to the scope mid-job. Bathrooms are the other steady job, and often a rescue. A November 2025 customer needed a walk-in shower because of a husband's mobility issues, plus new sinks and a toilet, after starting out with someone else. A March 2025 customer came to Peter after what they called a nightmare of a bathroom renovation, and designed their own bathroom with his input. In June 2026 a returning customer was squeezed in to fix bathroom fixtures that had been installed improperly. Then there is the long tail of ordinary work, which is where a handyman earns the name: a kitchen sink replaced in March 2024; a shower control fixture that had pulled off the wall repaired in two days in April 2024, with no trace of where they went through to reach it; a front door fitted in September 2023 with the old storm door cut down so it could stay; a kitchen backsplash tiled in February 2023; porch screens re-framed and re-screened in August 2022; siding repaired and metal roofing added in December 2022; and a pool switch wired in July 2022, two hours after the phone call. Chris and Tressa are named in 2023 reviews, so there is a crew behind the name. For a deck, a bathroom that has to work for someone, or the list of jobs you keep putting off, this is a strong call. Ask for the itemized quote, and check what the licence numbers on the BBB listing cover before you add plumbing or electrical to the scope.
We needed a new deck. Pete was quick to come look and give an (extremely reasonable) estimate. From the beginning, he communicated constantly nearly every step of the process. Very respectful of our property and the work was awesome. He's honest, and if he tells you something, it's because it's important. Extremely pleased with whole project. Pete really showed us he knows exactly what he's doing; from estimate to finished product. We would absolutely use him again.
Pete is absolutely amazing, does amazing work, very precise, his workers are just amazing as him. Just getting someone reputable, who shows up, and the most reliable. Did a job for our bathroom that we got swirled around with much negative businesses. Thank you Pete for making our house a home again. Excellent work! Would recommend him to anyone.
Main Street Handyman always performs well for us! They just squeezed us in... and fixed our bathroom fixtures, which were improperly installed. Thank you to Main Street Handyman!
“We hired Main Street Handyman to design and build a deck, and the experience was excellent from start to finish. The estimate was clear, scheduling was prompt, and the crew showed up when they said they would. The workmanship—framing, railings, stairs, and trim—is precise and sturdy. They coordinated permits, kept the site tidy each day, and wrapped up on schedule with no surprises on cost. The deck looks incredible and feels rock solid. We’d happily work with them again.”
Peter and his crew at Main Street Handyman are the best! The new LV floor they installed looks amazing and they did it one day. I would highly recommend.
