In January 2026 a Google reviewer wrote that Maine Drilling & Blasting "blew up our well and refused to pay for it." According to that January 2026 account, the company did no pre-blast survey, blasted within 300 feet of the well, and that iron and other heavy metals then entered the water and turned sinks and bathtubs brown. In that account the company's insurance representative, Christopher Scott, denied the claim. The company's BBB profile describes it as engaged in drilling and blasting services, established and incorporated in Massachusetts in 1966, with 125 employees and Mr. Miller Parington as President. It states all work is guaranteed. Its own site says it has been in business 50 years and offers free estimates; its Gardiner office sits at 542 Brunswick Ave. Trade outlets acppubs.com and vermontbiz.com have both written about the company's drilling and blasting work. On Google it holds 3.2 stars from 11 ratings. In January 2024 a Google reviewer complained about one of its drivers in Auburn, who went straight from a turn-only lane, nearly hit them and then made a rude gesture. A 2022 five-star review praises only the statue out front.

Maine Drilling and blasting blew up our well and refused to pay for it. They failed to do a pre-blast survey and blasted within 300 feet of our well, causing iron and other heavy metals to enter our water, turning sinks and bathtubs brown. If we drank the water, we’d be dead by now! DO NOT TRUST THEIR INSURANCE MAN CHRISTOPHER SCOTT. He came to our house, took us for poor people who couldn’t hire a lawyer, and denied our claim despite his OWN COMPANY’S REPORTS THAT SHOWED TOXICITY!! He was quick to brag how big and prolific the company is, but god forbid they shell out a thousand dollars to right a wrong) Shame on this company for poisoning people’s water sources and endangering lives. Maine drilling and blasting is the worst of what capitalism has to offer. I despise this company for its dishonesty and lack of integrity and I wish them the worst. This guy was driving around Auburn tonight and was in a turn only lane, went straight and almost had an accident with us. He then proceeded to flip us off. Poor driving and bad manners. And from what I read, this isn't the first time.
Not sure how this place is but they are getting a 5 star because of their amazing statue out front. It's my daughter's favorite animal and we drove out, just to see it. =]
