The floors people bring Mark are the difficult ones: 110-year-old boards scratched, dented and missing in places (a June 2026 job), oak worn down by more than 25 years of living in a Burlington house (July 2026), 1970s original parquet in a 2023 project. Mark's Master Service is a Burlington hardwood shop that Mark Changelian founded and still runs; the site says it has been serving since 1981. Sanding, staining, patching, installation, carpet removal — plus a lower-cost "facelifting" refinish that skips the full sand. Color is where the care shows. In a July 2023 job Mark took orange-ish white oak from the 1960s down to a natural white oak with Bona NaturalSeal; in another that same month he ran several test boards to knock the red out of red oak before finishing the rest. A January 2025 customer had wall-to-wall carpet pulled from a living room, master bedroom and stairs, then the old hardwood underneath refinished to match the new hardwood in their addition. Two things come up again and again. The first is dust, or the lack of it — a July 2026 customer wrote "no dust left behind," and an October 2024 one said Mark and Gil left the house spotless. The second is that he comes back: a December 2024 customer noticed a sealant problem months after a maple kitchen floor was redone following a dishwasher leak, and the crew returned to make it right; in May 2026 another had two small spots taken care of quickly; in May 2024 a homeowner got no-charge touch-ups on floors refinished the year before. A lot of the work is repeat business. A January 2026 reviewer had Mark do their floors in 2022 and called him first after buying a new house, and a June 2025 customer brought him a job needing fine cutting and trimming to shim things properly, having used him before. Before you book, settle the finish. A July 2026 customer hit a few glitches choosing the exact look — gray tones can be tricky — before landing on a stain color, so ask for test boards early. Be clear, too, about which refinish you are buying: the full sand, or the cheaper facelifting version the company offers. If your floors are old, water-damaged or hiding under carpet, this is a shop that will work at the color and come back if something needs another pass. Get the stain approved on a board in your own light, and confirm which refinish the quote covers.
