Martel Welding & Sons, Inc. describes itself on its Better Business Bureau profile as offering general welding and fabrication of truck bodies and as a distributor of Knapheide truck bodies and toolboxes, established in 1957. Its website says it has been in business 70 years. A 2022 customer said Chris welded in replacement front lower shock/spring mounts on a 2001 Jeep Cherokee, sprayed them afterward so they would not rust, and installed a lift kit. Another account, from a 2022 customer, said the shop quoted to remove the existing crossframe member on a 2007 Toyota Tundra and weld on a new one, and ultimately charged less than quoted. A 2022 customer said a Snowdogg MD11 snow plow was installed on a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 and thanked Dave for teaching how to mount and dismount it. A 2023 customer said Rick Martell made an aluminum welding repair on the transmission casing of a 20-year-old work van. A 2024 customer said hydraulic hoses came out exactly as ordered. A 2011 article on biocycle.net said a company transitioned into custom-built trucks provided by Martel Welding & Sons, Inc. in Tewksbury, Massachusetts. A 2025 customer said the shop declined to make a hose, saying it was a liability. A 2024 customer said they got the same job done elsewhere for $500 less than the quote.

Came In To get a hose made and the lady up front called to the back and it sounded like the guy didn’t want to do anything and she said it sucks for you. The guy comes to the counter looks at my hose and said he won’t do it because it’s a liability. Which means he is lazy and just doesn’t want to do it. Never get my business again.

In order to keep it from going to a junk yard, I needed aluminum welding done on the transmission casing of my 20 y.o. work van. Even though it was a relatively small job, Rick Martell understood my plight, made the repair and I have now a working van. Highly recommended.
The crew over at Martel is nothing short of impressive! My startup came to Rick Martel with an array of different problems: rewelding custom shipping containers, applying chemical resistant coating, painting 14 shipping containers, and helping our team with various welding/machining projects that came up as we were producing our first units.
