After a fire, one family was told by most builders to sell and move on. In a 2023 review, they wrote that Masters Touch took the job and rebuilt the house from the studs up in under a year. That is the kind of work this Medway design-build firm ends up with: the house with asbestos tile under the floor, the 1940s frame where nothing is square, the first floor gutted by a flood. Doug Masters founded the company in 1997, and his own start in the trade goes back to 1983. It runs design and construction under one roof for custom homes, additions, and kitchen and bathroom remodels across Massachusetts, holds 4.8 across 93 Google ratings, and carries an A+ from the Better Business Bureau, where it is accredited. Clients keep coming back, sometimes for decades. One reviewer wrote in November 2025 that Doug Masters and his team had worked on their house since the fall of 2002 — kitchen remodel, new windows, flooring, interior and exterior painting, carpentry, a new roof and three skylights. In an April 2026 review, the owner of an antique house listed a three-season porch turned into a year-round office, an attic transformed, a cedar bulkhead rebuilt, and the overhead electrical service buried. Second and third projects show up constantly: a master bathroom in an October 2025 review after a kitchen a few years earlier, a sunroom addition in a June 2025 review for a returning client. Designers get named as often as builders — Nancy, Brigid, Shannon and Amanda at the design stage, Nick, Shane, Trevor, Dan and Matt running sites. In a May 2026 review, a customer singled out project manager Trevor for projections that were honest and, as they put it, spot on. Then the other side. In a 2021 Reddit thread, someone weighing a bedroom and bathroom renovation said they got cold feet at the price. A 2025 two-star reviewer said the job was only "OK" and that subcontractors had to come back to fix a number of things. A 2024 reviewer edited their review a year on to say they were disappointed, describing an understanding that the company would return after a year to settle the normal post-renovation issues. A four-star from 2024 found the project plans boilerplate — placeholders for a target date rather than a reflection of the actual work. And in an August 2024 review, a delighted customer still noted the job ran longer and came in a little higher than first quoted. For a complicated old house, an addition, or a rebuild after fire or water damage, this is a firm with the design bench and the site management to run it — at a price that has made some homeowners pause. Before signing, pin down the allowance for surprises behind the walls, what the project schedule actually commits to, and exactly how the one-year punch list is handled.

I hired Maize to paint my house, replace the entire roof, redo the trim work around the windows and doors, and replace the stone at the front porch entrance. The project is not even finished yet, but so far I am very happy with how everything is going. The team has been very careful with the landscaping, keeps the work areas clean, and pays attention to details that many contractors usually ignore. I have worked with some shady professionals before, so I was honestly a little worried in the beginning. But I can already say that I definitely hired the right people this time. The quality of the work is impressive, and it is not something you see everywhere. So far, the communication has been good, the team has been respectful, and the work looks very professional. I am looking forward to seeing everything completed.
We had a wonderful experience with the Master's Touch team who built a new primary ensuite bathroom for us last year. Starting with Chris P who was our initial contact and got the process started, to our designer Nancy who fully understood our vision and brought us to the showroom to pick all the elements, to Shane who was boots on the ground during construction and extremely communicative and transparent at every step - and everyone involved along the way. The team made it not only easy but fun to dream up our new space and the final result is better than we could've imagined! While the project took longer than anticipated, it was worth the wait (and mostly due to our beautiful floor tiles getting stuck in Italy) :) The quality of their work can't be understated - that paired with the people made the process a dream. Highly recommend!
The work was great and our project manager, Trevor, was fantastic. Breaking the typical mold of overruns and delays that come with any kind of construction, his projections were honest, reasonable, and spot on. Would absolutely recommend.
Masters Touch Design Build is excellent! We’ve worked with Masters Touch to do several projects on our antique house including converting our three season porch to a year round office, transforming our attic, rebuilding our cedar bulkhead, burying our overhead electrical service, and building an extensive addition including a family apartment (ADU) for our aging parents. MT is easy to work with and collaborated well with us through the entire process. This included architecture/design, selections, preparing us for the build process, and actual construction. The MT team is full of competent, honest, good people you can’t help but enjoy working with. The end result is a terrific finished product that meets our expectations, looks great, and left nothing but positive memories of working with the Master Touch team! Big shout outs to Doug (owner), Jake (project manager), and the entire MT team for their design/build excellence! Our home was recently featured as a Boston Globe "Home of the Week" and included pictures of the ADU and other parts of the addition that Masters Touch built.

Alex, the designer, brought our vision for the basement to life perfectly—it turned out even better than we imagined.
