A 2024 customer said Buddy painted their metal roof when they were short on time and was clean, courteous and communicative during the process. A 2024 reviewer wrote that Buddy did interior painting and sheetrock repair and planned to hire him again. A 2023 customer said he painted the walls and ceilings of an open floor plan and that it brightened the space. In 2022, a customer wrote that Buddy repainted their entire interior and brought experience to the job. A 2022 reviewer said Mr. Merrill and his partner painted their ceilings. A 2025 customer said Robert "Buddy" Merrill took a deposit to paint a house and never showed up, and wrote that he had been arrested for contractor fraud. A 2023 reviewer said Buddy Merrill received over $3,000 as a painting deposit, never started the project and never returned the deposit. A 2022 customer said Merrill Painting took two-thirds of the money and did less than a quarter of the work, then failed to show on promised dates about six times over three months. A 2022 reviewer said Merrill took a deposit in April 2020, asked for more money in June 2021 and had still not painted the house. In 2021, a customer who paid a deposit to stain their house said calls and emails went unanswered, though the money was returned.
Robert " Buddy" Merrill took our deposit to paint a house we were working on and never showed up. He was arrested for contractor fraud and has an arraignment in December of 2024. He has been previously convicted of contractor fraud and on the Vt Home Improvement Fraud registry. He has many negative reviews (we saw after the fact) for taking money and not doing the work. He also has outstanding small claims judgements. Do not take the risk.
We were short on time and needed to get our metal roof painted; Buddy assured me he’d be able to get the job done, and get it done the right way. He did an excellent job on our roof. He was extremely clean, courteous and communicative during the process. I couldn’t be happier with the job he did and would highly recommend him.
Buddy did some interior painting and sheet rock repair. He fid a great job and I’ll be hiring him again.
He did a nice painting job on the walls & ceilings. We have an open floor plan and it really brightened the space up. Impressed with how efficient and professional he treated the project. We would contract Merrill again without hesitation. Thank you Buddy.
I do not recommend doing business with Buddy Merrill of Merrill Painting. He received over 3k for a contracted painting project deposit in the spring of 2021 and has never returned to start or complete my project. We gave him multiple chances to make things right, but he only gave excuses and false promises. The deposit was never returned and services were never provided. He has committed fraud to us and many other people by his deception.
