Metal Masters Custom Carpentry is a small, owner-operated standing seam metal roofing outfit run by founder Karl Beck out of Henniker, New Hampshire. The company says it was founded in early 2016, works exclusively with Drexel Metals, and fabricates its own panels, drip edge, flashing and ridge cap on site rather than ordering them cut to length. The written record is small but unusually consistent: six reviews across Google, Angi and HomeAdvisor between 2016 and 2023, all positive, and nearly all of them name Karl personally. A 2023 Google reviewer with a 200-year-old house described getting a quote within days, being kept posted on where their job sat in the schedule, and an install finished in a few days. A 2016 HomeAdvisor reviewer wrote at length about the crew spotting rot in a porch frame that other bidders had ignored, then rebuilding it in hemlock before roofing over it. Price comes up more than once and always favourably — a 2022 Google reviewer called a shingle-to-standing-seam replacement plus porch repairs "a super reasonable cost", and a 2018 Angi reviewer named affordability as part of why they picked the company. What is worth asking about is how current all this is, and what the company actually is today. The newest written review on file is from 2023, and the four directory reviews date from 2016 to 2018 — real accounts, but dated. The company's own site is also inconsistent about its history, claiming "over 18 years of expertise" on the home page while the About page says it was founded in early 2016 and credits Karl with "over 6 years of experience" in standing seam. One more thing to know when comparing star ratings: the Angi and HomeAdvisor profiles are the same page content published twice, so the four reviews behind their 4.9 averages are one set of four, not eight. “Metal Masters Custom Carpentry did a great job for me this past fall. I'm out in SWNH but he's based out of Henniker and I recall him mentioning one of the jobs he did before mine was in Nottingham over by the coast.”
Karl and his team were great to work with. I have a 200 year old house and have been living in it for 15 years. I started looking at the option of metal roofing a few years ago as my north facing roof was starting to turn for the worse. Karl came over to look at my project and within a few days he gave me quote and I gave him a deposit. I was on the schedule and he kept in contact with me letting me know where he was in his schedule and when he thought he could get me installed. The project took a few days to complete (the weather mostly cooperated). When I'm doing the other roof sections on my house, I am going with a standing seam roof and hiring Metal Masters. They were efficient and the yard was clean when they left. I highly recommend Metal Master Customer Carpentry for your standing seam roofing needs.
Karl and team at Metal Masters did a wonderful job replacing our old asphalt shingle roof with standing seam metal and making some internal repairs to a porch roof in the process. This all came at a super reasonable cost. I’d recommend Karl for any person looking to put a metal roof on their structure.
If you are considering a standing seam metal roof, I would highly recommend Karl and his team at Metal Masters LLC. Metal Masters LLC is very professional, thorough and knowledgeable in every aspect of the roofing process. Right from the initial meeting and quote, Karl was very upfront and honest with the entire process. His team worked swiftly and efficiently through various weather extremes to ensure we had a quality roof in a very reasonable time. The overall quality, craftsmanship, affordability and experience working with Karl made selecting this company for our roofing project an easy decision. We are very pleased with the end result! Highly recommended.
Professional efficient and completed the job after rescheduling due to weather happy with the job and their customer service
If you are like most homeowners, you dread contracting. Even if you subscribe to Angies's list, which I do, a lot of my home repair jobs have had mixed results. I needed a back porch re-roofed, some siding fixed from wind damage, and cottage re-roofed. The guys at Metal Masters did a fabulous job. They were punctual, stuck to their quote, covered all the bases and were wonderful to work with. They are a family business, and the two brothers are meticulous and are still young enough to take serious pride in their work. They are also very savvy at problem solving. And there are always "gotchas" when poking around an old roof. The problem with roofing is that you really don't know what you are dealing with once the old roof is removed. That's a big problem, because many roofers have little experience with framing and construction. So if after taking off the roofing and there are structural problems, what do you do? You can hope the roofers can fix the structural problems, or halt the project and sub-contract someone who can step in and do the repairs. I hired these guys specifically because they have years of experience building houses and roofs, so any nasty discovery they run into they know how to handle it. They looked at the porch roof whose frame was visible underneath and asserted unequivocally that I needed a new frame. I had come to the same conclusion. Other roofers with quotes not much lower ignored the rot in the frame. They are smart and technical. They have sophisticated equipment which shapes metal roofing panels from metal stock on a spool. Most of their work is prepping to get things right. They rebuilt the porch with beautiful hemlock and installed two metal roofs which will outlive me. I've never been so pleased. If I could I would adopt these guys.
