One customer called him Plaster Mike, which is about right for what people hired him to do: ceilings. A condo owner in May 2018 had him cover a popcorn ceiling and wrote that with a bit of paint you would never know it had been there. That October another had a dining-room ceiling replaced, repaired and plastered, and remembered Mike driving over on his lunch break from another job to look at it first. Michael Solazzo works out of Malden doing drywall installation and repair and plaster work, and his Angi and HomeAdvisor profiles claim 28 years of experience. The reviews describe a one-man operation that moves fast and quotes low: a November 2019 customer got a drywall repair the same day he called and it took an hour; a January 2020 customer said the price was a third of what others wanted; an April 2020 customer had blueboard hung and a textured finish applied and called it reasonable. Two customers had a bad time, and their accounts are detailed. In February 2020 a homeowner wrote that during a kitchen gut the stove, refrigerator, cabinets and floor were left uncovered and she had to replace the floor; that a kitchen light was taken down and never put back, with the explanation that he is not an electrician; and that an outlet was blueboarded over and had to be found again. An August 2018 customer said the job was poorly done and not completed. A May 2020 customer who liked Mike personally said he had asked for the holes around his windows to be filled and found gaping holes and open cracks around the door once the job was called finished. Both platforms note the owner posted replies disputing the two worst of these. BuildZoom lists Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration #197080 as expired since October 2021 and inactive, and reports that Massachusetts Consumer Affairs recorded the status as cancelled at one point; BuildZoom adds that the information may have changed. For a ceiling patch, a popcorn cover-up or a room of blueboard where speed and price are what matter, this is the work customers describe him doing well. Write the finish list down — every hole, every crack, every fixture to be put back — and settle what gets covered and protected before anyone opens a wall, because that is where the complaints came from. Check the registration status yourself before any job large enough to need one.
He was quick to respond. And sHowed up on time. He quickly and efficiently completed the work discussed well and within budget. Also very mindful with regard to face coverings and cleaning surfaces. Would hire again!
Mike is very competent and personable and we hit it off right away; however, I asked him to fill holes around windows and when the job was finished the windows had gaping holes around them and there were other large open cracks around the door, but he was in his truck and on his way. So, my final impression is that the job was just too messy and too much left undone. He also surprised me with a statement that the dump fee was over $200 for the debris that he carried away, which was less than two trash barrels in total. However, because I believed Mike to be an honest guy I paid that in addition to the price he quoted for the job. Additionally, one side of the garage was in very good shape and require a little repair and since he quoted the job for each side of the garage being equal I thought that he should ve taken more care to fill in the holes I spoke of around the windows because they are just too big for putty and there is only empty space behind them. Overall, Mike is a good worker and I would recommend him because I think with a little more supervision and time for review on my end I would've been satisfied up to a five out of five.
Mike was very professional and his price was very reasonable. He installed blueboard and did a textured application. My husband and I were very pleased with his work and would call him back needed in the future.
The work was done efficiently and without a problem and looks very professional. I was very pleased.
Took my light down in my kitchen, never replaced, told mr he was not an electrician. Blueboarded over an outlet in my kitchen, had to call him back to find it. While gutting my kitchen, they did not cover my Stove, Refrigerator, Cabinets or Floor. I had to replace my kitchen floor. I also have to replace my light in my kitchen, it is broke from whatever they did to it. I wanted my kitchen ceiling smooth, he did texture. What a disaster. I had such a space between the floor and the wall, the floor guy charged a 1000 more to fill in the gaps. I told the plaster up front i wanted blueboard to the floor, I did not want baseboard, ended up having to have baseboard. Awful!!!!!!
