"Plaster Mike" is what one customer called him: Michael Solazzo is a Malden plasterer and drywall hanger who, in 2018 and 2019 reviews, turned a popcorn ceiling into what looked like a brand-new one and rebuilt a leak-damaged hallway ceiling. Angi lists him at 45 Valley Street with a claimed 28 years of experience and 4.3 from 18 ratings. The written history runs 2018 to 2020, all on Angi. The good jobs are specific: a dining room ceiling replaced and plastered in 2018 by a contractor who came to look at it on his lunch break from another job; blueboard with a textured finish in 2020 at a price the homeowners called very reasonable; a same-day drywall repair in 2019 that took about an hour; and a January 2020 job priced at a third of competing quotes. On-time arrival and quick responses come up in most of the five-star reviews. The complaints are about what got left behind. A February 2020 two-star reviewer said Mike took down a kitchen light and never put it back, blueboarded over an outlet, and gutted the kitchen without covering the stove, refrigerator, cabinets or floor — the floor had to be replaced. A May 2020 customer who hired him to fill holes around windows found gaping holes and open cracks around the door when he had already driven off. An August 2018 one-star review said the job was poor and never finished. Angi notes the owner posted responses disputing the two detailed complaints. BuildZoom lists a Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration (#197080) for him that expired in October 2021 and shows as inactive, at one point cancelled; that is BuildZoom's listing rather than a registry check here, but it is worth asking about. HomeAdvisor's 4.3 from 18 is the same Angi profile. For a straightforward plaster or ceiling repair, the 2018–2020 accounts of the finished surface are consistent; for anything that touches wiring, fixtures or a kitchen in use, agree in writing on what gets covered, what gets put back, and what "done" means before he starts.
He was quick to respond. And sHowed up on time. He quickly and efficiently completed the work discussed well and within budget. Also very mindful with regard to face coverings and cleaning surfaces. Would hire again!
Mike is very competent and personable and we hit it off right away; however, I asked him to fill holes around windows and when the job was finished the windows had gaping holes around them and there were other large open cracks around the door, but he was in his truck and on his way. So, my final impression is that the job was just too messy and too much left undone. He also surprised me with a statement that the dump fee was over $200 for the debris that he carried away, which was less than two trash barrels in total. However, because I believed Mike to be an honest guy I paid that in addition to the price he quoted for the job. Additionally, one side of the garage was in very good shape and require a little repair and since he quoted the job for each side of the garage being equal I thought that he should ve taken more care to fill in the holes I spoke of around the windows because they are just too big for putty and there is only empty space behind them. Overall, Mike is a good worker and I would recommend him because I think with a little more supervision and time for review on my end I would've been satisfied up to a five out of five.
Mike was very professional and his price was very reasonable. He installed blueboard and did a textured application. My husband and I were very pleased with his work and would call him back needed in the future.
The work was done efficiently and without a problem and looks very professional. I was very pleased.
Took my light down in my kitchen, never replaced, told mr he was not an electrician. Blueboarded over an outlet in my kitchen, had to call him back to find it. While gutting my kitchen, they did not cover my Stove, Refrigerator, Cabinets or Floor. I had to replace my kitchen floor. I also have to replace my light in my kitchen, it is broke from whatever they did to it. I wanted my kitchen ceiling smooth, he did texture. What a disaster. I had such a space between the floor and the wall, the floor guy charged a 1000 more to fill in the gaps. I told the plaster up front i wanted blueboard to the floor, I did not want baseboard, ended up having to have baseboard. Awful!!!!!!
