A recent customer wrote that they had been trying to contact the company for weeks with no response while their minisplits put out no heat. That 2024 customer said someone from the company came out, said it was installed wrong and said he fixed it, but it was draining down the wall again the next day, and later calls and voicemails went unanswered. The same 2024 reviewer wrote that a technician from Dave's World in Augusta said the installation was done poorly and fixed it, and that it stayed fixed. A 2024 customer said they switched from a propane furnace to a Daikin heat pump in December 2023 and called Rod, Mike and Tommy pleasant, knowledgeable and professional. That 2024 customer also wrote that the company worked with Efficiency Maine for anyone needing financial assistance. In a 2021 review, a customer wrote that they had used an oil burner for 20 years and wanted a backup system plus some air conditioning. That 2021 customer said Rod Burton was the quickest responder and best price of the several installers they called, and described a neat install and a quick setup.
Trying to contact for weeks. NO response. Minisplits putting out no heat. MidCoast installed these a five years ago.
Purchased a unit in January 2023. I can say that it NEVER functioned properly. Mid Coast Heat Pumps will not respond to calls, unless you call daily as well as contact them on the website for several weeks. Their communication is zero. The equipment was expensive and improperly installed. It cost a fortune and return on the investment is zilch. Daikin is a inferior brand with loads of problems that this company will not make good on. Do NOT use them.
Keeping our systems fantastic.
I saw the other positive reviews and had this company install 3 heat pumps in my house in 2022. We've had multiple problems with our split units since then. I saw the other positive reviews and can only shake my head. This latest problem finally gave me the kick that I needed to write this. First, the installation wasn't great. The date/time was changed several times and we weren't notified. Also, the guy installing the heat pumps let his dog in our backyard without our permission. I mean, who does that? This was after my husband told him our dog is scared and reactive. This was so unprofessional and just plain weird but we didn't say anything because we were anxious to get the heat pumps in before the summer heat. Then, we started having free flowing water draining down the interior wall under the heat pump. Didn't notice it at first but mold was already developing after we did. Called and emailed - after a lot of hassle one of the guys came out and said it was installed wrong (I mean you guys installed the thing in the first place!). He said he fixed it. It was draining water down the wall again the next day. I called back many times, emailed twice and spoke with the guy in charge who assured me that they would come back out to fix it. Weeks passed, more calls and voicemails and no response. They ghosted us. I was fed up so I called Dave's World in Augusta and the guy who came out said our installation was done poorly and fixed it - and it stayed fixed this time. Finally, we've had another issue with the heat pump breaking down. Dave's World came out, fixed it, and said the install was bad and caused the issue. Out of the 3 heat pumps we had installed, 2 have had serious issues and we had to get mold treatment done because of one of them. I didn't even bother contacting MidCoast Heat pumps this time since the experience has been so poor in the past. What's the point? Even if they say they have fixed it, it's probably not actually fixed. I would not recommend this company to anyone. If there is a problem they will ghost you. I don't expect this review to stay up, but if it does, I'm so disappointed with our experience. Please go with a reputable company and save yourself a lot of heartache.
In December 2023, I switched over from a propane furnace to a Daikin heat pump and couldn't be happier! Rod, Mike, and Tommy were all very pleasant, knowledgeable, and professional. Listen to their recommendations for your specific needs. It will make a difference. Midcoast Heat Pumps is definitely a smart choice for your heat pump installation and maintenance. They also work with Efficiency Maine if you need financial assistance.
