Mitchell is a Danbury fuel dealer that delivers heating oil and propane and services the furnaces and boilers that burn it. A 2026 customer said their home was out of heating oil and down to 30 degrees; a driver named David called ahead, delivered oil and re-fired the furnace. The company says it has been in business 80 years, and its website names a service area that includes Danbury, New Milford, Southbury, Woodbury, Torrington and New Canaan. A recent customer of close to 34 years described having a 25-year-old furnace and hot water heater replaced; the sales rep, Carlos Moran, came back the day after the installation to follow up. A 2026 customer said Colin did the annual furnace service and vacuumed the furnace room. A 2023 customer said the technician, Ruben, fixed an oil furnace problem after a couple of other techs did not. A 2024 customer with a leaking basement oil tank said Mitchell first put on a temporary patch, then installed a new tank within a week. A recent customer said the service team did a great job replacing the oil tank, but the service department billed for work already included in the sales proposal, and it took numerous phone calls before the charges were deleted. A recent customer who replaced an underground tank said the operation went smoothly but the sales representatives left a lot to be desired. A 2026 customer said they paid extra for automatic delivery and the tank still ran dry, with no answer to an emergency call; the same customer later wrote that Mitchell covered the delivery charge and the furnace maintenance and gave a credit toward the next fill-up. A 2024 customer accused the company of putting unauthorized charges on their account.

I'm very pleased with the service I've received from Mitchell Oil. Wendy was so helpful on the phone. The service men have done an excellent job. Thank you to all the very nice people who work at Mitchell Oil.
Had to replace my underground tank because it was retaining water. While the operation itself went smooth, the representatives from Mitchell for sales and the liaison to Pro-guard left a lot to be desired. Long term customers should not be treated like that. I would appreciate it if someone from upper management would give me a call/response
