MMP Construction

MMP Construction is a small general contractor run out of Salem, New Hampshire - the Better Business Bureau also lists it there, and its Angi and HomeAdvisor profiles carry an older Lowell, Massachusetts address. It works both sides of the border: its own project list names a Salem new-build, a Boston roof deck and bathroom remodels in Acton and Chelmsford. The work spans the general-contracting range - additions and full renovations, kitchens and baths, decks and porches, roofing and siding, window and door replacement, and rot repair - with snow removal and minor roof repairs in the mix. The company says it offers free estimates and backs completed work with a five-year workmanship warranty, and it publishes financing through GreenSky and Synchrony. The record is deep and old: forty written reviews from 2016 to 2025 across Google, Angi and HomeAdvisor, with Angi publishing 4.7 stars across 191 ratings and Google 4.7 across 14. Two things come up in nearly every account. The first is the owner, Matt Palmer, who reviewers repeatedly describe as the one contractor who called back - a 2019 homeowner said he was the only one of three to return the call the same day, and a 2018 roof-repair customer said other firms replied only to say they were too busy. The second is scope: a 2023 reviewer had Matt prepare the drawings, file the township variance application and attend the hearings before a deck was built, and a 2018 customer credits him with handling all permits and inspections. What is worth asking about is consistency at the low end and how subcontractors are handled. A January 2024 one-star reviewer described cracked tiles, leaking plumbing and doors and windows that would not close. A 2016 reviewer said the crew turned up without a ladder long enough to reach the roof, and another that year said too little information was given and the job was finished by someone else. A 2017 renovation customer said a plumber delayed the project by a month. Against that, a 2017 roof customer whose shingles blew off five months later reported the crew back the next day at no charge. Schedules are the other thing to pin down. A 2018 customer was told upfront there would be a wait before the start, and then hit further weather delays; a 2017 customer had a start date pushed past winter. Both were happy with the finished work, but neither project ran to the first date discussed. On licensing: no licence or registration number appears anywhere in the record - not on the company's own site, not on its Better Business Bureau profile, and not on any directory listing - so there is nothing to look up here. New Hampshire does not register general contractors at all; if your project is on the Massachusetts side, ask to see the registration and a certificate of insurance before work starts.
