Heat-pump installations and clear explanations bring customers back to Modern Comfort Mechanical. In July 2026, one homeowner described Jeff VanGilder inspecting the existing HVAC equipment, measuring rooms and presenting four options at different prices. The customer said he installed the furnace first to restore heat, protected the floors, arranged an electrician for the heat pump and handled rebates and warranty registration. The Enfield company describes itself as locally owned and operated, serving North Central Connecticut with heat pumps, central air and heating systems. It says it has 24 years in business. Its Connecticut HVAC license is active. Google lists a 5-star average from 109 ratings, and written customer accounts span 2022–2026. Repair customers describe specific diagnoses and prompt scheduling. In October 2026, a homeowner sent Jeff a weekend video of a leaking furnace component; he fitted in a Monday repair that the customer said took less than an hour. A June 2026 central-air customer reported a failed compressor capacitor and low refrigerant. They said Jeff replaced the capacitor, added refrigerant and restored cooling. A May customer described replacing a 22-year-old unit with a Daikin dual-fuel system and praised the clean work and fair price. Customers also describe help after installation. The homeowner who detailed the four replacement options reported a brief “Fan Failure” controller message on June 17, 2026. The fan was running and the message cleared before Jeff arrived the next day; the customer said he inspected the system, confirmed it was operating correctly and recommended a filter change. In April 2025, another heat-pump customer said Jeff returned on Saturday after installation to show them how to use the system. Older installation accounts describe planning around the house as well as the equipment. A September 2023 homeowner received separate downstairs-only and whole-house proposals, chose ductless heat pumps throughout the home, and praised the way exterior tubing was routed. A December 2022 customer described a three-head mini-split installation and said it kept their four-bedroom colonial comfortable during single-digit nights. They also credited Jeff with financing and energy-rebate paperwork. A January 2026 maintenance customer described Jeffrey and Cedric cleaning and inspecting three indoor mini-splits, inspecting the outdoor unit and testing the system. The customer said that first maintenance visit was free and they intended to pay the quoted rate for later visits.
