Two names come up over and over in Moka Moving's reviews — Nicolas, who leads the crews, and Alan — and the detail that follows them is almost always the same one: the truck showed up when it was supposed to. A customer moving to Newton from out of state in February 2025 said the team actually arrived early. Moka Moving Company LLC works out of 43 Charles Street in Needham and describes itself as family owned and operated. Its own list of what it does runs local moves, long-distance and interstate work, office relocations, labor-only jobs, packing and storage, and it names fifteen towns it covers — Needham, Wellesley, Newton, Natick, Watertown, Waltham and the rest of the near-western suburbs, out to Cambridge, Somerville and Brookline. The written history runs 23 reviews from 2021 to 2026, nearly unbroken five stars. What lifts it above generic praise are the moves people describe in detail. A June 2026 customer said the price matched the advance estimate with no surprises, that the crew packed big mirrors and glass tables, and that they put the dining table and a mirrored dresser back together at the new house — with the manager calling during both move-out and move-in. A March 2026 interstate move "went off without a hitch." Reviewers in December 2025 and March 2025 both singled out how furniture and fragile items were wrapped and padded. The one rating below five stars is the one worth reading. A Needham customer in December 2025 picked Moka partly because the manager said the move was too complicated for a virtual estimate and came out in person — thoughtful, they said — and their four stars turned on packing help for kitchen goods and a china hutch that had been arranged in advance. If packing is part of your job, get its scope written into the quote. The company publishes a DOT number, 3576933, on its own site; that is its own statement, not something confirmed against a registry. Recent volume is light too, at two reviews in the past six months. For a straightforward household move inside the Needham–Newton–Wellesley belt, or a regional one out of it, the history is consistent and specific about the things that go wrong on moving day — furniture damage, surprise pricing, late trucks — and it is clean on all three. Pin down the packing scope and what the estimate covers before the truck rolls.
Excellent services. Price was true to the estimate provided in advance - no surprises. Moving crews were on time, hardworking, friendly and took great care with our belongings. They were great with larger items (packing big mirrors, glass tables.) On move-in to the new house, the crew put larger items like dining table and dresser with mirror back together and in place. I was impressed that the manager called me during both move-out and move-in to make sure all was going well. I highly recommend Moka!
Alan and the team were very helpful and accommodating. They were also very responsive. Would definitely recommend. We had a fairly large move and it was interstate - it all went off without a hitch. Also, when we needed some extra help (some light removal, etc) the crew was eager to help.
I had a fantastic experience with Moka Moving and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a stress-free move. What stood out: * Easy Scheduling: The initial process was incredibly smooth. Getting a quote was quick and transparent, and scheduling the actual move date was a breeze. I really appreciated how organized their intake process was. * Excellent Protection: On the day of the move, the crew did a great job wrapping all of my furniture and fragile items. They were meticulous about ensuring everything was padded and secured, so I didn't have to worry about any damage during transit. * Professionalism: The movers were efficient, polite, and worked hard from start to finish. If you want a moving company that is reliable and treats your belongings with care, Moka Moving is the way to go!
We decided to make Moka Moving of Needham our movers for two reasons. One, they had excellent, almost exclusively five-star reviews. And two, during my first call with the manager, he said, “It sounds like your move is too complicated for a virtual viewing and estimate. I should visit in person.” This seemed very thoughtful. The visit went well, and the quote was reasonable. On the day of the move, the crew showed up on time, and were friendly and polite. They went right to work. The problem was that we had told the manager that we would need help from them packing our kitchen goods, china hutch items, and various other items around the condo. The movers seemed unaware of this information and left us on our own to pack up the china hutch and kitchen. That was a lot, a lot of work that we were not prepared for! We managed it, but it took away the time that we had planned for other moving tasks. We feel that the manager did not listen to our needs, or did not communicate them with the movers. Also, we noticed after the movers left, that they had missed packing up the items in the broom closet and the laundry room. Otherwise, he movers did a good job of moving our furniture. There were a few scratches in a few items, but not bad. We have moved enough to learn that scratches happen. The movers were very patient with us in two different rooms where after they had placed a heavy item of furniture, we asked if they could move it to a different wall. And they did without complaint! They even made a good suggestion of the more logical placement of one item. On the downside, our bed was reassembled at our new place, but all the screws were left quite loose. We think that the movers could use a little more training. They used a roll of packing tape to hold our front door open while they carried boxes out. Unfortunately, they placed it in such a way as to put strain on the door hinges and set the door askew enough that it became difficult to close. The manager did send someone out to fix it within a few days. The total moving charge was about what we were quoted, but we thought it would be less given that we were packing the entire time the moving team was packing up and loading our stuff. That’s to say, we ended up packing what we thought they would pack. This is a “on the one hand this, but on the other hand that” situation, so we give Moka 4 stars.
Efficient, careful, timely, friendly. Excellent service.
