Moodscapes LLC

Moodscapes is an Arlington landscape design, installation and maintenance company, and one recent customer whose front garden it designed and maintains said the beds were planned to have different plants flowering all through the growing season and well into late Fall, with some chosen because they turn bright red in the Fall. The company says it was founded in 1997 by Judi Lipson-Rubin and describes itself as an owner-operated organic and ecological landscape business focused on personalized garden and hardscape design. A recent Reddit commenter in r/ArlingtonMA said Moodscapes has been around forever. On Google it holds 4.8 stars from 25 ratings and on Houzz 4.9 stars from 14, and its BBB profile shows an A+ rating and accreditation. A recent customer said AJ and his crew transformed their backyard. In a 2025 review, a customer said Moodscapes installed a cobblestone and paver driveway and a wood fence, graded and seeded the lawn with clover and a shade mix, and planted 4 flowering trees. That 2025 customer said subcontractors put in the driveway and fence, and that they went with the company to the nursery to pick out the trees. A 2024 customer with a limited budget and planting areas that were challenging for space and sunlight said a project manager and designer surveyed the property, and that the owner made multiple visits to make sure they were satisfied with the results. A 2024 customer said the team installed irrigation for the plants it put in. In a 2022 review, a customer with a hilly backyard said Judy and the crew worked through plant choices, water drainage and masonry, and taught them about native plants, shrubs and grasses to attract pollinators and birds. In a 2019 Houzz review, a customer said Judi's team redid the 30-year-old landscaping on their entire property, with Judi also coordinating a new irrigation system, a flagstone patio, a fence, a raised vegetable bed and new lighting. A 2015 Houzz reviewer said Judi acted as the general contractor on their front and back yard project, bringing in experts for masonry and an underground sprinkler system. A 2022 customer gave one star, saying Moodscapes came out twice to discuss a large landscaping project and the planner promised an estimate by the end of the week, but despite several calls the company never got back to them.
