Moodscapes is an Arlington landscape design and installation company that leans hard into organic, ecological practice — the business says owner Judi (Judi Lipson-Rubin) started it in 1997, and she still designs and oversees projects personally today, serving Arlington, Belmont, Lexington, Newton, Watertown, Winchester and several nearby towns. The recurring theme across this year's reviews is the planting, not the pavement. One client this spring said their front garden is 'consistently' called one of the prettiest on the block, built around flowers timed to bloom from early season into late fall; another credited a large garden-bed overhaul with 'outstanding' results, and a third simply keeps coming back because they like what Moodscapes designs. That holds up across independent platforms too: 4.8 stars from 25 Google ratings, 4.9 from 14 on Houzz, and an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, where the company has been accredited since 2009. Worth asking about before signing: some installation and hardscape work has been handled through subcontractors rather than an in-house crew, so if masonry, paving, or fencing is part of the job, find out who's actually doing that piece. The review count is also modest for a business with this much history — 23 across six sources spanning 2015 to now — solid corroboration, but not a huge sample. Moodscapes is a strong fit for someone who wants a designed, ecologically-minded landscape — a redone garden bed, a seasonal planting plan, ongoing organic lawn care — more than a pure hardscape build. Confirm the staffing plan for any subcontracted portion of the work up front.

I am consistently told that my front garden, which is designed and maintained by Moodscapes, is among the prettiest in our neighborhood. I really like that it was designed to have different plants flowering all throughout the growing season and well into late Fall. Some plants were chosen because they turn bright red in the Fall. My front garden makes me very happy. Thank you Moodscapes.

Moodscapes installed a cobblestone and paver driveway and wood fence, graded and seeded our lawn with clover and a shade mix, planted 4 flowering trees, removed debris, and provided us some garden designs to implement. The sub-contractors who put in the driveway and fence did a fabulous job - the driveway gets compliments from almost everyone who walks by. And our dog loves having a fenced in area to play. The seeded lawn is starting to germinate and it should look lovely when it does. We were able to go with them to the nursery to pick out trees and they make our property look much nicer. Overall, our property is looking so much better than it had. We found the Moodscapes staff to be very responsive, pleasant, and knowledgeable with a focus on native plants and organic treatments, and we will be working with them to service and maintain our property. We look forward to a long working relationship
