I’m a horticultural enthusiast and have been gardening for the past 12 years, so I’m quite familiar with plants for New England climate. However, when it came to designing an entire garden from scratch for our new construction project in Newton, I wasn’t entirely confident about how to bring everything together into a cohesive design. That’s why we hired Orys to design the landscaping for the entire property. Orys is extremely professional and knowledgeable—not only about landscape design and aesthetics, but also about plants and horticulture. Her understanding of both the artistic and horticultural aspects of garden design really stood out to us. What I particularly love about her design is the concept of “garden rooms.” She thoughtfully divided the property into several distinct functional spaces, including an entertainment area with a patio and in-ground hot tub, a potager garden for vegetables and cut flowers, as well as a lawn and beautifully designed garden beds. We are more than thrilled with her design. She has created a cohesive, thoughtful, and beautiful landscape that is also highly functional. As someone who loves gardening, I especially appreciate how she balanced the overall design with the practical needs of the plants and garden. We can’t wait to see her vision come to life once the house is completed!
