Most people meet Morais Concrete Services without hiring them: the crew out front replacing the town's sidewalk. The Springfield company — 26 years in business by its BBB profile — lives on public bid work across western Massachusetts, from sidewalk and wheelchair-ramp sections in Pittsfield, where it came in as low bidder in 2015, to MassDOT roadway improvements on King Street in Northampton and curbing and sidewalks around Finn Street. The reviews have the same shape. In April 2026 a Longmeadow resident wrote that the town had used them to replace sidewalks and that the notice about damaged sprinklers turned out to mean something: theirs were damaged, and a crew was there within an hour to put it right. In September 2023, another neighbor thanked them for the sidewalks outside the house. Google's average, though, is 3.5 across 11 ratings — well below what those written accounts suggest — and the one written complaint is blunt. In April 2022 a reviewer called the company impossibly slow and badly planned, with "sloppy work at best." Two matters of public record belong in any decision. Good Jobs First's Violation Tracker lists a $6,860 penalty against the company dated 29 November 2021 for a workplace safety or health violation, alongside an OSHA inspection record. And through 2026, The Berkshire Edge reported that Morais Contractors Inc., formerly Morais Concrete Services, filed suit against a town in Hampden Superior Court on 7 April claiming it was not paid for its work and is owed $869,395.61 plus interest; in June the town released a CBIZ forensic audit of the infrastructure project and the contract behind it. The company is the plaintiff in that case, and the reporting settles nothing about who is right. Massachusetts appellate records also carry a 2015 decision, Cocchi v. Morais Concrete Service, arising from a 2008 public bidding process. The practical read for a homeowner: this is a commercial and municipal outfit — its Procore listing describes concrete, demolition and earthwork across Massachusetts and Connecticut — and most of its concrete work is paid for by a city. Hiring them directly for a driveway, slab or foundation, ask for recent private jobs of that size, put the schedule in writing given the pace complaint, and settle who restores lawn and irrigation when the concrete is done.
