Verified record
Morris Home Services is a one-owner handyman and property-upkeep shop run by Russell Morris out of Gloucester, working carpentry, tiling and remodel jobs across Cape Ann and the North Shore. The record here is thin but pointed. The only detailed account on file, a 2022 review, describes a $5,000 complete bathroom renovation that went badly: the customer said Morris installed a shower insert without leveling it or replacing the rotted wood underneath, then said he was done with the job and wanted full payment, on top of extra hours billed beyond what was agreed. Weighing against that, a recent LinkedIn comment calls the service good and the prices reasonable, though it offers no specifics of its own. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration (#198348) is verified active, and BuildZoom independently confirms the same license. BuildZoom's permit records show just one tracked project in the past three years — a $5,000–$20,000 job from 2021 — putting its builder score in the bottom fifth of the roughly 139,000 Massachusetts contractors it tracks. Given how little independent record exists beyond that one serious complaint, get the scope and payment terms in writing and check recent references before signing on for a larger remodel.
Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from Morris Home Services. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.
A day rate replaces the task list — usually the better deal once the list gets long.

“Great service at reasonable prices. I recommend Morris Home Services to everyone who needs repairs to their home.”
BAIT AND SWITCH - STAY AWAY. I hired Russell Morris (Morris Home Services) for a COMPLETE BATHROOM RENOVATION. We verbally agreed upon a price and exactly what needed to be done. After starting the job Russell Morris changed the terms that we agreed to. Russell Morris INCORRECTLY installed a shower insert without leveling and replacing the rotting wood. (see pics) After Russell Morris incorrectly installed the shower insert over the rotting wood, and put up some sheetrock, Russel Morris told me that "He is done with the bathroom renovation and wanted payment in full." I have attached pictures of what a Russell Morris (Morris Home Services) considered a complete bathroom. I now have incurred damages as a result of Russell Morris and must now pay another contractor to undo and fix Russell Morris's mistakes. Russell Morris: He showed up a day late, Within 10-minutes of arriving, he yelled out profanity language, at the top of his lungs. Very unprofessional, Short-tempered, Did not do what we agreed to, Did NOT complete what he agreed to, Changed the prices that we had already agreed to, Charged me 10 extra hours at $85 an hour, Did NOT complete the job, yet asked for full payment, Horrible communication, you'll have no idea when he's coming or going, or coming back, "I" had to vacuum EVERY DAY when he left for the day, Russel Morris made an absolute mess. He was mad that "he" did not plan properly and HUNG the phone up on me. I had to FIRE Russell Morris. The pictures attached show the state in which Russell Morris (Morris Home Services) left my bathroom; incomplete.
