Every one of the 27 people who have rated Moving and Shaking on the North Shore on Google gave it five stars, and what they describe is rarely a truck-and-dolly move. It is the harder job around a move: emptying a house, deciding what stays, and getting an elderly parent settled somewhere smaller. Owner Ellen Fusco says she has run the business since 2019, and that it grew out of downsizing her own parents into assisted living in three weeks after her mother's Alzheimer's diagnosis. She works from an office at the Whistlestop Mall in Rockport with a team she describes as North Shore residents based mostly in Gloucester and Rockport, and the company says it belongs to NASMM, the National Association of Senior and Specialty Move Managers. It is also listed as a member of the Rockport Chamber of Commerce. The senior work is where reviewers get most specific. In a February 2025 review, a family moving a 93-year-old mother from a multi-room house into a studio in assisted living — someone "far from ready to move" — credited the team with being patient through the downsizing decisions and then setting up the new apartment. A 2025 reviewer described a full clean-out of a home the family had owned for more than 40 years, room by room and shelf by shelf, deciding what to keep, donate and dispose of. The other steady thread is what happens to the belongings. Reviewers writing through 2024 and 2025 keep returning to donation over disposal: one said Ellen "used her network to donate almost everything rather than having it end up in a landfill"; another, clearing a brother's storage unit in 2025, said she brought boxes of donations to charities every day they worked together. Selling and consigning surplus furniture — in one 2025 case, kayaks and paddle boards — comes up too. Speed under a listing deadline is a recurring reason people call. A homeowner writing this January described rapid decluttering to hit the October market in time for staging and photography, and a Realtor in a November 2025 review said the team came out on a Saturday to pack for listing photos and finished under the quoted time. On pricing, the clearest account is a February 2026 review: Ellen came to the house before an interior painting job, quoted an hourly rate with an estimated number of hours, and the packing took six. That is the shape to expect — hourly, scoped after a walkthrough — so ask for the rate and an hours estimate up front, and confirm which parts of the job (moving, junk removal, housecleaning) her team handles directly versus coordinates. This is the right call for a family facing a senior transition, an estate clean-out, or a house that has to be emptied and staged on a deadline. Book the free one-hour consultation and get the hourly rate and scope in writing before the work starts.

I would wholeheartedly recommend Moving and Shaking to anyone in need of relocation services. Ellen and her exceptional team provided a seamless transition during my recent move. Moving and Shaking clearly demonstrated top-notch expertise. I was astounded by the meticulous care taken in packaging my items: furniture, appliances, glassware, clothing— basically everything! Their attention to detail ensured that my belongings arrived at my new place unscathed. Their unique commitment to assisting me in the move included their genuine compassion and support during the process of downsizing. I cannot recommend Moving and Shaking highly enough. I would say they are clearly game-changers in moving services.

We had an outstanding experience with Moving and Shaking! From start to finish, Ellen and her team were professional, compassionate, and incredibly organized. They made what could have been an overwhelming move for a family member feel smooth and manageable by handling every detail with care. What truly sets Ellen apart is her hometown service across the North Shore, especially here in Beverly. She knows the community so well and brings such a personal, thoughtful approach to everything she does. She doesn’t just feel like a service provider; she feels like a friend who genuinely wants the best for you and your family. Her warmth, communication, and attention to detail made all the difference. If you’re looking for reliable, stress-free moving services in Beverly or anywhere on the North Shore, I can’t recommend Moving and Shaking enough!

Ellen Fusco, owner of Moving and Shaking on the Northshore, answered my request by email and phone right away. She came to the house to look at the packing we needed before a major interior painting job. She told us how much an hour and gave an estimate of time. It took 6 hours to pack everything we needed. That was fabulous. I was happy to hire a local Rockport company. We were very pleased and would definitely use her services again.
