Mulligan Painting & Contracting

A HomeAdvisor customer writing in March 2023 had had Gerry Mulligan maintaining their house for almost 20 years: clapboard replaced and painted, rain gutters swapped out and cleared, a basement rebuilt, bathrooms rebuilt, bedroom walls painted. That is the shape of this Medford company — hired for the paint, then kept on for everything else. Mulligan Painting & Contracting is owner-operated by Gerry Mulligan, and its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active. Its BBB page is an A+, accredited since 2010, with the bureau putting the business at 34 years. Angi and HomeAdvisor both show a 4.9 — 123 ratings on Angi, 117 on HomeAdvisor, 98% of the HomeAdvisor ones five stars — and HomeAdvisor's profile says reviewers there name Gerry and his son Kyle. Both 2026 Google reviewers put the owner on the job himself. The one writing in July 2026 said Gerry was there every day working with his crew until the work was done and the area cleaned; the April 2026 customer wrote that he supervises his crew and treats them with respect, and that the team was careful with plants and outdoor furniture and cleaned up after finishing each day. The work itself reaches past a paint roller. That July 2026 job included new trim and tile in a living room and kitchen alongside the interior wall and trim painting. In October 2025 a customer had the underside of a roof overhang scraped and painted and the cinder blocks of a foundation repointed. In August 2023 another had a fence stained and the house exterior repaired and painted, and called Gerry prompt in every exchange. Two things to settle before you call. The service area the company states for itself is Medford, so check they come out to your town. And its own pages disagree on tenure — over 40 years of experience on the homepage, over 30 on the About page — against the BBB's 34 years and Angi's listing of the business since 1992. For interior and exterior painting around Medford, with trim carpentry and a run of smaller repairs folded into the same visit, this is a small owner-run shop whose customers describe the owner working alongside his crew. Ask for the scope in writing, and confirm the daily cleanup and how plants and furniture get protected — the details his reviewers single out.
