N. Granese & Sons is a Salem heavy civil contractor that says it has built and rehabilitated water and sewer pipelines since 1947, and BBB lists a 52-year track record with an A+ grade, though it is not BBB accredited. Its work shows up in real infrastructure — a March 2023 review described crews pushing through a difficult, ledge-heavy Gloucester street replacement in tough weather, and several longtime customers, some citing decades of repeat work with the family that runs it, credit the company with fair pricing and reliable results, including one account of a wastewater project handled with unusual patience after another contractor's work fell through. There is a serious matter to know about. Boston 25 News reported in April 2024 that OSHA opened an investigation after a Billerica police sergeant, Ian Taylor, was struck and killed by an excavator while helping move a tractor-trailer at one of the company's roadside job sites. A Boston Herald report the following month said the company had also been cited and fined for two OSHA violations over the prior five years, including a $4,000 settlement tied to a 2019 Haverhill site. The Google review history carries a recurring theme too: several reviewers, spanning late 2023 through early 2026, describe company vehicles driving aggressively on the road — tailgating, cutting off other cars, and in a few accounts nearly causing a collision. Separately, a handful of reviews describe municipal road or water projects that dragged on for months with little communication. Before hiring for a public or private infrastructure job, it's worth asking directly about current safety protocols and getting a firm project timeline in writing.

Messed up the piping downtown last summer. They are now redoing it this SCHOOL YEAR. I cannot get to school on time because of the construction. Very rude as well.
They drive like maniacs. Please other drivers be careful. They don't use signals. One tried to run me off the highway today.
I was driving behind one of their vehicles and he was so dangerous almost re ended some little sedan they had to break check him he was cutting people off almost collided with another moving vehicle it was so bad
If they drive how they work, then this company should be going downhill. He almost clipped my mirror on the highway from being on his phone.
If your town is in need of roadway replacement or repairs, do not, and I mean DO NOT hire them. A complete lack of transparency, communication and complete disregard of their workmanship. My roadway has been in complete despair for over 6 months, and nowhere near close to completion.
