Evangelous, whose history lives in municipal permit files rather than in review threads. The work behind those permits is substantial and runs from 2004 to 2024. On the residential side: a $267,600 whole-home remodel on Clifton Ave in Marblehead in 2021 — four bedrooms, four bathrooms, a rebuilt kitchen and dining area and a new deck — a $398,000 two-family-to-single conversion in Cambridge, a $142,608 interior renovation in Needham, siding replacement on two Cambridge properties, plus a garage build and a demolition on Thorndike Street. On the commercial side, a $690,000 office buildout and a $280,000 data-centre tenant fit-out at 1 Markley Way in Lowell. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, number 197302, is active and held in the company's own name. BuildZoom separately lists an electrician licence for the company, though that one is the directory's claim rather than a registry check. What you will not find is any account from someone who hired them. BuildZoom says plainly that it has received no reviews, so its score of 101 is calculated from permits and licence status and says nothing about how clients were treated. Google sits at 1.0 — but that is two ratings with no text attached, far too little to draw a conclusion from in either direction. One practical thing before you call. The company's own website presents New England Group as a full-service real estate firm: property management, brokerage, consulting and bookkeeping, and alongside them property development, project management and property maintenance. The building work is real and permitted, but it is not what the site sells, and the site publishes a different office number, (781) 255-7000, from the (978) 634-1747 that appears on the contracting records. Worth a conversation if you want a builder with a genuine permitted history on large residential remodels and commercial fit-outs, and you are comfortable doing your own reference-checking. Ask which number reaches the construction side, ask for recent client references given how little is public, and confirm registration 197302 yourself with the Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation.
