Three names run through eight years of reviews — John, Caroline and Lorraine — and the people writing them keep coming back. Two homeowners posting in September 2023 each described their third project with the Dolans; a 2024 reviewer counted four, two bathrooms and a basement among them. That repeat business is the clearest thing about this Canton family showroom and remodeling outfit at 605 Washington Street. The showroom sells the parts — kitchen displays, vanity cabinets, countertops, sinks and faucets, prefinished hardwood, tile, marble and stone, laminate and carpet — but what reviewers describe is whole rooms. A 2023 customer had a downstairs bathroom taken to the studs in four weeks, on budget. A 2019 account covered a kitchen, two bathrooms, all new hardwood and tile flooring and finish carpentry in one run. A 2024 homeowner said the reason they picked Dolan over other quotes was that the company ran the plumber, electrician, rip-out crew, plasterer and flooring installers itself, as general contractor. In July 2026 a reviewer put it in one line: they listen, they react to changing conditions. The scores don't quite line up. Google sits at 4.6 across 61 ratings, Houzz at 4.8 across 39, and Angi and HomeAdvisor both post 4.9 across 124 — the same 124, because those two pages carry byte-identical listings. Google, the platform with the loosest posting rules, is also where the sharpest complaints live. Its BBB file carries an A+. The complaint worth asking about is permits. A 2022 reviewer said the company started kitchen work without calling the town first, which left them dealing with the building inspector and losing a day of work to sort it out. A 2022 two-star account described a steam-shower enclosure built with venting and sliding doors that left gaps for steam to escape, argued through to a replacement, plus a cracked tile and a cracked light lamp the customer said were never returned for. A 2018 three-star described two visible seams in a quartz counter and photos sent to the company that went unanswered. And in February 2022 a couple wrote that they waited outside the showroom with an infant for a scheduled sample appointment nobody was expecting. For a full kitchen or bath run through one company — design, materials and crews under one roof rather than a general contractor you assemble yourself — this is a well-documented choice with a long, consistent record. Before signing, pin down in writing who pulls the town permits and when, and get countertop seam placement and any shower-enclosure detail specified rather than left to the installer.

John Dolan and his team were a delight to work with on our just completed master bath remodel. John is a straight as they come. He is consummately professional and knowledgeable. He is frank in his evaluations and makes his projects structured and flow beautifully. The have this remodelling thing down. They have their own crews in almost all of the trades you would need. Their crews are well supervised and the transparency and documentation are meticulous. He works with his sisters as project managers. We worked with Lorraine and she was a font of knowledge, guided us in our choices and is fully informed. Our project flowed just as they promised and were "on it" all the time. I can recommend them heartily for any complex project.

We had our kitchen done by John Dolan and we are very pleased. Like any large project there were a few bumps but both John and his son John Jr. quickly resolved any issues. I would definitely recommend them. Anne

The overall experience from start to finish was unparalleled. Caroline put forth an incredible design, from only a few meetings, from layout, to input on cabinet design and overall features. From demo on day one, communication was great, everyone who came in the house were professional and treated it like it was their own, and jobsite was always cleaned at end of day. Overall minimal disruption, done in less time than anticipated and we were left with an awesome kitchen! I highly recommend Dolan, without issue! AA+++++
