New England SteamWorks does one thing: steam heat. Its customers are people with old boilers and cast-iron radiators who have already been told by a general plumber that the job is not worth doing, and the reviews read like relief. The specialisation is the whole story. A May 2026 customer called them for annual maintenance and says they fixed a clanging that other, non-specialist companies had dismissed as normal. Another that month wrote that the crew recommended and installed main vents to make the system more efficient and showed them how to skim the boiler to stop the banging in the pipes. In March 2026 a homeowner in the Worcester area with two leaking radiators said their usual plumbers "did everything they could to avoid the job" and SteamWorks was at the house within hours. On Reddit's r/centuryhomes in May 2026 three separate commenters recommended the firm in one thread, one saying they "identified a pitch problem and fixed it really promptly" and that the water knocking and leaking air vents have not come back. The work spans maintenance and restoration, not just repair. Technicians — reviewers name Patrick, Nick, Ranny, Joe and Randy repeatedly — service and inspect boilers, replace low water cut-offs and valves, balance systems, install refurbished radiators and haul radiators away to be stripped and refinished. A July 2026 customer described a heavy second-floor radiator carried down, refinished and brought back up, and called the finish beautiful. Booking comes up often too: customers mention online scheduling, arrival-time updates, and one July 2026 caller got same-day boiler service. Price is where the picture is mixed. Several reviewers use the words fair and reasonable, and an April 2026 customer credits the techs with diagnosing the problem without the upsell another company pushed, saving them a boiler. But a commenter on Reddit in April 2026 said the firm "gave me a similarly scary quote," and a May 2026 reviewer wrote plainly that "it wasn't the lowest bid by far." This is a specialist, priced like one. The honest counterweights: a three-star from April 2026 reports a buzzing noise on newly installed equipment from day one, with the owner attributing it to a smart thermostat wired without a C wire — an explanation the customer says does not fit, since their prior boiler had the same simple thermostat. The Better Business Bureau also has two complaints on file. Google publishes 4.9 stars across 862 ratings, with 639 reviews on file back to 2021 and 61 in the last six months alone — a large, current and consistent record. If you have steam heat and a system nobody else wants to touch, this is the kind of firm that record points to; expect to pay for the expertise and ask for the quote in writing.

Excellent service. Our radiator was very heavy and these guys were very careful removing it from the second floor and taking it downstairs and bringing it back it upstairs. Guys were clean and courteous. The refinishing quality is excellent. The radiator is absolutely beautiful. Highly recommended.
