Every place that rates Noble Garden Design agrees with itself: 27 five-star ratings on Google, 5.0 from Angi's reviewers, an A+ with the Better Business Bureau, and nothing negative on file anywhere — the kind of alignment across independent sources that's genuinely uncommon. Behind it is a one-person operation: owner John Noble has run the Weymouth shop since 2017 and says, by his own account, that he's spent 40-plus years designing and installing outdoor spaces, working a cluster of South Shore and Newton-area towns — Hingham, Quincy, Milton, Braintree, Marshfield, Brookline, Plymouth. The work itself is design-build hardscape: patios, retaining walls, outdoor kitchens and fireplaces, fire pits, land clearing and grading, and planting design, carried from a drawn plan through to installation. That pattern holds across close to a decade of reviews dating back to 2018, spread over seven different sources rather than clustered on one. Houzz is the one platform with a slightly softer number — 4.5 out of 5 — and its sub-scores show why: work quality (4.6) and value (4.7) run ahead of communication (4.2), the single place reviewers were less enthusiastic. Worth knowing before calling: this is a design-and-install operation, not a maintenance company. The site is explicit that it doesn't do mowing, spring or fall cleanups, fertilizing, or patch repairs to existing patios or steps — so it fits a from-scratch backyard project, not ongoing lawn care. For a full backyard overhaul, a patio, or a retaining wall in the Weymouth/South Shore area, this is a small, owner-run shop with a long, consistently positive history on the design-build side. Worth asking how day-to-day communication is handled given that Houzz sub-score, and confirming the project is a build rather than upkeep before booking.

We hired John to create an extensive and thoughtful design for our backyard project. John was very easy to work with and was exceptionally detailed in his design process. John created a to-scale full landscape architecture drawing that was accurate down to the inch. I’d recommend Noble Garden Design for any large landscape design project.

We loved working with Noble Gardens! John cares about his craft and takes the time to really get to know his clients and their needs. Our patio renovation was a complex project but John and his team did a fabulous job coordinating all the moving parts. The finished product is one we will enjoy for many years to come. Highly recommend
