The last thing several Boston-area customers heard from Nordik was a phone call cancelling their order. One reviewer wrote in September 2023 that the company rang to say it was no longer working in the USA; another, two days out from an install date and $950 already paid, was told Nordik had decided to stop doing business in the Boston area. The company sold and installed replacement windows and doors from an address in Avon — casement and triple-pane windows, entry doors, patio doors, basement doors. A homeowner writing in March 2023 made the shape of the operation plain: most of the reviews come from Canada, where Nordik is based, and its US arm had only recently moved into the Northeast. Its written record runs 2022 to 2023 and nothing newer, and it splits cleanly in two. The 2022 reviews are the warm ones, and they name people. A homeowner that November described Dan installing three windows, clearing away all the waste and explaining how to maintain them; another had a basement door fitted in Brockton and said the installer finished as fast as promised without cutting corners. A December 2022 customer had a custom front door built into a 1760s house. On the sales side, Emily and Daniel come up again and again in that stretch. Through 2023 the tone turns. Reviewers describe a custom sliding door ordered in October and not installed until June, then put in the wrong way round, with six missed or cancelled visits for the replacement. One customer rescheduled a window install three times after installers failed to show, and was heading for a fourth. Another waited over a month for the correct handles, then found one of them badly damaged after the crew left, along with an unexplained credit-card charge of more than $3,000. A separate account describes a front door frame bent enough that it wouldn't close, and a manager who never turned up to inspect it. Google's 4 stars from 32 ratings sits well above what those write-ups actually describe. Buyers who did get their windows generally liked them: several 2023 reviewers said the triple-pane casements were noticeably cheaper than comparable quotes from bigger window companies and held up well for the money. The complaint was almost never the product — it was getting it delivered, installed correctly, and finished. The first thing to settle, before any money changes hands, is whether the company is taking work in Massachusetts at all. The newest customer accounts on file are from September 2023 and describe deposits taken and jobs called off, and nothing has been written since. Confirm current US operations directly, get delivery and installation dates in writing, and hold back payment until the work is actually done.
After being shocked at the cost of replacement windows, talking with the "big boys" in the industry, Nordik came in with a much more acceptable estimate. The beginning of the process was good, but it started to fall apart when I asked about seeing color samples for the window material. Two different people assured me that samples would be sent to my home. It wasn't until I reached out because of the time that passed and my insistence in seeing samples before placing the order did I actually receive the samples. Little did I know that the order was already placed with the standard white color, but luckily I caught things before production actually began. Then there was the three postponements, the first because of weather, which I understand, the second because they couldn't "FIND" their installer, the third was after one window was installed and it began to rain. They told me that they would get me back on their schedule within the next three weeks. That was not acceptable, I told them that their customer service was poor and that it was shocking to me that they would put someone else ahead of me when my job was already underway. They finally agreed and put me on the schedule during the following week, but if not for me being upset, I'm quite sure it would have been a very different scenario. Lastly was the fact that my windows were not accurately noted on the work order as to where they should be placed. Now if I want them in the position which was originally communicated to the sales person, I need them to come back out in a month to have two of the three windows removed and repositioned. To future buyers of Nordik windows, I hope you have a better experience than I had, but be prepared for poor communication, less then desirable attention to detail, and the need for very close supervision of EVERY STEP.
Ordered back in June, They called me on 9-27 and stated they are no longer working in the USA. What a horrible company.
Paid $950 up front and 3 weeks later, 2 days before scheduled appointment, I get a call saying the company has decided to stop doing business in the Boston area. Valuable time lost now that the cold weather is here and the door needs replacing. You would think the company would at least honor existing contracts before pulling all operations. Very disappointed.
Nordik I was great to work with from the sales person to the installer. I would highly recommend Fabio. He did an amazing job. I would ask for him and his crew. They made sure that I was happy and went over everything with me and did clean up and did not leave a mess and make sure when he was done went over everything he did.
Good Job done by installors.
