Six homeowners writing between 2022 and 2024 said the same thing about North Environmental Abatement: it came in under every other quote they had gathered. The Lawrence company works in hazardous materials — asbestos removal, vermiculite insulation removal, deleading and mold remediation, for houses and commercial buildings. Its site says it has covered the Merrimack Valley, North Shore, Cape Cod and Greater Boston for more than a decade, and names no founding year. The pricing comments are specific. A June 2024 customer having vermiculite pulled out of an attic said the quote was the lowest of four companies contacted; an April 2023 attic vermiculite job came in cheaper than two other quotes; a March 2022 homeowner took three estimates and picked this one. In December 2023, a couple stuck mid-demolition on an older house called North Environmental by far the most reasonably priced of the contractors who bid, and wrote that they were back on track within a week. Speed is the other thing that keeps coming up, and Elvyn is the name attached to it. A July 2024 reviewer said he came to test within fifteen minutes of their call. Someone who panic-emailed at night in October 2023 about asbestos in insulation had answers by the next morning, and a homeowner mid-kitchen-remodel in June 2023 wrote that he took a late-evening call, showed up the next morning for samples and rushed the lab order. On the abatement itself, an October 2023 customer removing asbestos tiles and a popcorn ceiling described thorough tarping and taping and a positive pressure system, and reviewers in 2022 and 2024 noted work areas left clean afterward. Two people had the opposite experience, and both are worth raising before you sign anything. In April 2024, a homeowner wrote that appointments were made and confirmed by email over several weeks and nobody showed up or called. In July 2025, someone who had Elvyn out to look at 9x9s and questionable steam pipe insulation in a house they had just bought said the survey took five minutes, the answers to their questions were vague and the quote never arrived. The written accounts run from 2020 into July 2025. For asbestos or vermiculite that needs identifying and hauling out — especially when you are pricing the job around — this is a company past customers say to get a bid from. Pin the appointment and the start date down in writing before you schedule demolition around them, and ask what testing is included in the quote.
