I called NEHI on Wednesday looking for an inspection within a week. They were able to offer me time on Friday. And I’ve received the report by Sunday afternoon. The report is organized, includes many photos of reference, and is detailed in any shortcomings. Sean was a very knowledgeable, kind, and thorough inspector who offered very valuable input and advice during the nearly 3 hour inspection. He took his time and explained each and every thing he was looking at to us. This company came highly recommend to us and we highly recommend Sean and NEIH!
We recently used Northeast Home Inspections for our home purchase, and Emily was our inspector. Knowing we were buying an older home that would need significant work, we still found some major issues that were overlooked in the inspection. The most concerning was a serious gas leak caused by faulty fittings and a pipe with a hole in it. Several professionals have since informed us that missing such a critical issue is highly unusual, and it’s clear this has been a longstanding problem in the house. Since moving in, both my fiancé and I have experienced severe health issues linked to the gas leak, and we’ve been told by multiple sources that we’re fortunate to be alive. While Emily was very friendly during the inspection, we now worry about what other major issues may have been missed. If we had known about the gas leak, we likely would have reconsidered our purchase. Additionally, Emily suggested using “YouTube Academy” for many major repairs. While this might be suitable for basic renovations, I believe it’s not advisable for significant issues. I can’t speak for other inspectors at Northeast Home Inspections, so I’m not saying to avoid them entirely. However, my confidence in the inspection we received is really low.
We used Northeast Home Inspections for a pre-purchase home inspection on an old home we are trying to purchase. Emily Coughlin was very knowledgeable and EXTREMELY thorough. We can now continue the process with the confidence of knowing what the home needs when we take ownership, in order of importance. We will absolutely recommend Emily to anyone looking for a home inspector. We're hoping this will be our forever home, but should we need a home inspection in the future, Emily will be our first call! Thank you!
For a thorough, reliable home inspection, without reservations, I recommend Mike with Northeast Home Inspections. Bottom line: I am 100% more comfortable buying this house than before I met Mike. I traveled from out of state and Mike accommodated my schedule and was prompt at returning my texts and emails. My brother and I felt like we got a tour of the home, complete with history, and interesting finds (it's a 1900s house). Mike was happy we were there and encouraged questions. He made sure we understood each aspect of the inspection. Mike's report was timely (same day!!! seriously!!) complete with the photos he took and priorities of repairs. As another reviewer said, 100/10 stars for Mike. When you hire him, check out his lightweight telescoping ladder...I have ladder envy...
We had a great experience working with Mike from NE Home Inspections during our home purchase in Williamstown, MA. Mike's background in construction provides an added level of knowledge and a keen eye for detail during the inspection process. His knowledge of systems and methods typical to this area help inform us as homeowners as we prepare to make such an important purchase. Mike is also very personable and welcomes any level of involvement with the homeowners, something very important to us during the process. Through his efforts and due diligence, we were able to incorporate several items into the sales transaction, saving us some future work on the house. We highly recommend him!
