Two things jump out fast: 204 Google ratings sitting at 5.0, and a long run of recent buyers saying the same name over and over — Alex. JBS Home Inspections is the Cambridge company people call when they need a residential inspection to do more than check boxes: buyers describe walk-throughs that are detailed, patient, and useful for deciding what to fix now, what can wait, and what the house’s systems are actually doing. The through-line is depth. Across reviews from 2025 into June 2026, homeowners, first-time buyers, and even a real estate agent keep describing inspections as thorough, with clear explanations on site and reports that are easy to follow later, often with photos and sometimes delivered the same day. That pattern shows up in condo purchases, older homes from the 1800s and pre-1900s, and standard residential purchases, with several people saying Alex found issues they would have missed or helped them prioritize repairs and negotiations. Speed matters here too, but not in a rushed way. Several customers mention short-notice availability, quick scheduling, early arrival, and responsive communication before and after the inspection. A few also say they came back to JBS for repeat inspections over multiple purchases, or that the findings proved accurate months later after move-in, which is the kind of detail that means more than a generic five-star line. There is not much in the way of documented downside from actual customers right now. In the last six months, the review flow is active and there are no negative reviews in the recent activity summary. The main thing worth confirming before booking is scope: one condo buyer noted that some mechanical and building-system access was not permitted, and several reviews make clear that a lot of the value comes from walking the property with Alex and asking questions, so it is worth nailing down what can be accessed at the property and how the on-site walkthrough works. One odd note: a February 2026 Google review appears to describe a different inspection company in North Carolina, mentioning “Jeremy and his team” in the Triangle. That looks out of step with the rest of the profile, which otherwise centers on Alex and Massachusetts-area home purchases. JBS looks like the right call for a buyer who wants a home inspector who will teach as he goes, especially on condos, older homes, and first purchases where the report needs to be usable after the appointment. Before you book, confirm the inspection scope, report timing, and whether you will be able to attend the walkthrough and ask questions in real time.

We had an excellent experience with JBS Home Inspections. We worked with Alex for the inspection of our home in Needham, and he was outstanding from start to finish. He was able to accommodate us on very short notice, was incredibly thorough, and took the time to walk through the entire house with us, explaining his findings and answering all of our questions.

What impressed us most was his attention to detail. Alex identified numerous issues and maintenance items that gave us a much clearer understanding of the home, and I’m confident many of them would have been overlooked by other inspectors. His expertise, patience, and willingness to educate us throughout the process made a potentially stressful experience much easier..

We would highly recommend JBS Home Inspections and Alex to anyone looking for a knowledgeable and trustworthy home inspector!!

Hired Alex for an inspection on a property I'm purchasing. He was terrific; incredibly easy to work with. His report was detailed and easy to decipher. Already recommended him to others in the process of purchasing property.

Alex of JBS Home Inspections inspected a condo we were planning to purchase. He was very thorough despite some common mechanical and building system access not being permitted. What he found in the actual unit was very valuable and the knowledge he shared, and his professionalism and quick turn-around of the actually, compiled report, was appreciated.
