Northeast Maintenance Services is the call homeowners in Bedford, Burlington, and Lexington make to clear gutters before the fall rains, and the praise for exactly that job piles up: 4.9 stars across 76 Google ratings, many from customers who've used the same crew, led by owner Chris, for a decade or more. The company says it was started in 1990 by its founder at about age 26, after he ran a teenage window-cleaning business, and it still operates as an owner-run shop serving Bedford, Burlington, Billerica, Lexington, Winchester, Arlington, Melrose, Wakefield, Reading, Sudbury, Wellesley, and Newton. Gutter cleaning is clearly the core of the business, and reviewers describe a specific routine: the crew clears gutters and downspouts, blows leaves off the property, and repeatedly sends photos of trouble spots like loose flashing or roof moss so a homeowner can decide what needs fixing. Customers who've used the company for years describe consistent repeat visits, and several say Chris personally spotted and resolved problems fast, including cleaning a clogged downspout ahead of a storm within hours of being called. Beyond gutters, reviewers mention window cleaning, power washing of houses and patios, and small handyman jobs Chris and his crew have picked up along the way, like repairing a cabinet or fixing stuck doors. Not everything here is spotless. One Angi review from January 2025 describes a customer who says Chris stopped answering calls, never returned to finish a job, and ultimately filed a small-claims case after a two-year dispute, a serious complaint worth asking about directly. A 2023 review also noted a more than two-week wait to get a gutter-cleaning date confirmed, though the same reviewer said the work, once done, was good. Angi and HomeAdvisor separately show a lower 4.3-star average, but that comes from just six reviews, one of them the same dispute, a small sample that swings harder than Google's much deeper 76-rating history. For most homeowners looking for seasonal gutter maintenance, roof and gutter photo reports, or an occasional handyman fix, this is a long-running, well-reviewed local shop. Before booking, it's worth confirming turnaround for the week you need since fall gets busy, and asking directly how disputes get handled given the one serious complaint on file.
Fast communication, great work. We had power washing and gutter cleaning. Good online emails, too, including billing and easy payment methods.
This is the second year that we've used Northeast Maintenance to clean our gutters. Their crew has been professional, friendly, and has done a very thorough job. We will certainly use them again in years to come!
The team at Northeast Maintenance Services did a great job cleaning our gutters. Communication was clear, scheduling was easy, and everyone was very friendly. They even went above and beyond by blowing a bunch of leaves out of the yard without being asked, which really made our day! We certainly will be reaching out to them for future projects.
I initially communicated with Chris to have several services performed. I found him to be very friendly and responsive, via text and phone conversations. He sent out his service manager, Brian, to do the initial estimate and subsequently the work. Brian did the estimate and quickly had it ready. The problems began with the actual work. Although Brian and his work partner were courteous and pleasant, communication was not clear and sometimes misleading. One day, they did not show up at all, with no communication as to why. The following day they showed up and rushed through the remainder of the work. Because of this, the gutters were not cleaned well, and the work that was supposed to be done on a light pole (based on quote), was not at all what was described. Also, he requested a form of payment that was incorrect, according to what I had agreed to. Other smaller details that impacted the job: 1) they didn't bring out a ladder, so we had to supply our own for the entire job 2) he asked to have his dog use our yard to potty (totally fine) but dog brought a toy that he destroyed in our yard and we picked up pieces of that toy for weeks 3) they did not put things back on deck as was in the quote because their timing was off and the paint was not dry when they left. When they were done for the day, Brian showed me around my home to point out other areas of work he could do in the future (tree work, extermination of rodents), which appeared to be a pitch. A few months later, the light pole that was not done correctly was in the same shape as it was prior to work being done, and the paint was starting to chip on the deck (they painted it). I contacted Chris to have the pole redone and although he was responsive, he stated that Brian would contact me to come back out. Brian never contacted me, although apparently he told Chris he had reached out. After many emails (about a month) back and forth with the office staff to get Brian to come out and do the job, he never came out. They finally agreed to get me a refund for the light post part of the job and also someone came out to redo cleaning the gutters. The person they had come out this time, David, did a nice job with the gutters. He showed us before pictures, which confirmed that they were not done well the first time. Overall, I did not have a good experience with the initial job and do not feel I can trust the person that came out. Perhaps others will have better experiences if someone else comes out to do the job.
Chris and Miguel repaired a cabinet, washed skylights and cleaned a gutter. All of the work was done effectively and at a reasonable cost. I will definitely use Northeast Maintenance again.
