Northeast Wood Stove & Fireplace sells and installs wood, pellet and gas stoves and cleans chimneys. A Reddit commenter in r/Connecticut wrote that they got a Napoleon 1402 from the company, install included. A recent Google customer said the company did not adequately inspect a used wood stove it sold them, that the stove was cracked and leaked smoke and fumes into the home, and that they waited months for the broken stove to be removed. In a 2023 review, a customer said they had a chimney cleaned for a wood stove, the company noticed flashing issues, and the work was done the next day. A 2025 customer wrote that Ken worked with the manufacturer and in-house techs to resolve a blower issue on a brand-new wood stove. A 2022 BuildZoom customer described a cookstove install that ran seven months, with the stove failing inspection several times and another company hired to complete the work. In a 2021 review, a customer said the owner took a down payment, never delivered a stove and would not return more than $2,000. Its BBB grade is B-. Connecticut lists its home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0628908, as active, held by Northeast Wood Stove & Fireplace LLC.

Please save yourself the headaches. These guys are unsafe. They did not adequately inspect a used wood stove they sold me. It was cracked and leaked smoke and fumes into my home, costing me thousands in damage. I'm lucky the place didn't burn down and my family wasn't hurt. In the end I also missed the entire burning season, only receiving a small portion of the overall cost back as a refund, with nothing but damage and bills to show for it. They never even offered to compensate us for the damage. They're lucky I'm not litigious. They also repeatedly ignored my requests for information regarding permitting, which I should've taken as a sign. They made me wait months for them to remove the broken stove, while they continued working on new jobs. Not to mention they were very sloppy, ruining a new paint job on our walls with ash and soot during their installation. Finally, I never received an apology, not even so simple as a "sorry". I thought long and hard before placing this review, but people need to know who they are dealing with when it comes to the installation of anything fire - related. Please go with the other guy.
My wood stove insert liner needed a cleaning very badly. Other companies tried to dodge the work or push replacing the liner with a new and incredibly expensive one. I called Northeast (with whom I purchased my insert from originally with great pleasure) and they got the job done. Great price, no pushy sales, immediately responded and came out the next day. Friendly and knowledgeable service tech and the job was completed without a hiccup. Highly recommend Northeast for any products or work.
