Oracle Homes builds custom houses, and a 2024 customer named Gary Mello as the owner who walks clients through every step of the design process. The company's website says it has been in business for 11 years. A recent Google reviewer said they chose Oracle Homes for a custom home after researching builders for a coastal location. A 2024 customer said Gary Mello built their home in Swansea, with the cost coming in at the agreed budget and the timeline kept. A 2024 reviewer said Gary came back to fix every item on their punch list, as he had promised, and once returned to help two years after they moved in. A 2024 customer said the team built a staircase from a small picture they showed them, and that Alison got the permits. A 2024 Houzz reviewer described delays, unexpected costs and workmanship problems, and said that within the first year in the house they had 11 window leaks, 4 roof leaks and 3 plumbing leaks. That 2024 reviewer also said the builder refused to fix warranty items. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, number 197933, is expired on the state registry.
About 3 yrs ago, due to the fact that we could not find a house that met all of our criteria in a coastal location, we finally decided to find a property and look for a custom home builder. We did not have any connections in this area and relied on research via internet and social media. We were very diligent in reading all reviews and closely inspected all of the photos and data that we could find. Oracle Homes stood out from the others. It was apparent that the builder provides a quality product and it was clear that they provide a true “custom home”. As we lived out of state, we contacted Gary Mello, president of Oracle Homes, via email and follow up phone call. We explained that we were interested in a custom home on a nearly 4 acre hilly wooded lot. To our surprise, not only did he personally go out and look at the property but hiked through the woods to get a lay of the land and provided us with an extremely detailed assessment and pictures of the topography, layout of where we could build as well as his impression of the general area. Needless to say, we were very impressed with the time and effort put forth even prior to any formal commitment from us regarding the build. One of the most important aspects in the whole process was the project manager(general contractor). We were fortunate to have Josh assigned to our project. Both Gary and Josh have the expertise and knowledge of what it takes to build a home in a coastal community. The process of clearing the land of trees and digging the foundation seemed to take longer than we expected, but we had weekly phone calls to review progress and next steps. Some trades were delayed partly due to subcontractor availability. Every week we would get pictures of the progress which was an excellent bonus! Quality was very important for our build. There are no hollow doors, no vinyl flooring, no laminate countertops. Our construction was 2X8’ which allowed for more insulation and nice deep windowsills. This construction has allowed our entire electric house to be remarkably energy efficient. The final project was worth the wait. Of note, a custom home is not a cookie cutter business. It is a long process and one should be ready to adapt to unplanned things along the way. This is good sometimes and frustrating at other times. Some things are beyond anyone’s control, others may be due to unforeseen issues that arise or changes in vision. We decided mid-way that we wanted more light in a stairway so we removed a door and added a window in the stairway. This may have prolonged the build and increased the cost but definitely worth it. Oracle Homes was very accommodating to changes and in return we respected their opinions and recommendations. Oracle asks for multiple choices regarding fixtures, paint, tiles, flooring, lighting early on in the process. As the house was nearly 2yrs in construction it seemed like these decisions did not have to be made so early as items were not ordered until the end of the process actually delaying the final completion of the inside of the house. By the time some items were ordered they were difficult to find or no longer made in a couple of instances. (We understand that some customers may not be diligent with their selections and better to have them early than waiting until the end of the process). As far as customer service, we must say that both Gary and Josh have been great. Josh in particular went above and beyond what would be expected. He helped us out several times and states that “it is part of the job and we treat clients as part of the family”. This clearly is not something that would be done or seen in large companies. Now that the project has been completed we are very happy with the end result. We have a quality home and have made new friends at Oracle Homes. We would not hesitate to recommend or use Oracle Homes in the future. Thank you Gary and Josh along with the whole Oracle team!
We recently had the pleasure of building our custom home with Oracle Homes and we couldn't be more thrilled with the entire experience. For us, the most important aspects in choosing a builder were quality and integrity, and Oracle delivered on both fronts, in every way. From the initial meeting with Gary, we knew we made the right choice and were in good hands. Every detail of the project was clearly outlined in writing, so there would be no surprises. The entire team demonstrated exceptional professionalism and attention to detail, from start to finish. Their communication was clear and consistent, they were patient and responsive to our questions, and they took the time to understand our vision, ensuring the result was exactly what we had hoped for. Our Project Manager Josh was extraordinary. A true professional who treated our home like it was his own, ensuring that everything was as it should be. The quality of craftsmanship throughout the entire build is evident in every room and every corner of our new home. Oracle Homes went above and beyond to ensure that everything was done to the highest standard. We felt confident in their work every step of the way. We now have a home that not only meets our needs but exceeds them in both function and beauty. If you’re looking for a builder, we highly recommend Oracle Homes!
We recently built with Oracle homes, and love everything about our home. This was the first house we built and needed someone trustworthy, professional, detail oriented and open to our ideas. Gary may not be the cheapest builder but we are talking about our CUSTOM home building, going with him was so worth it. Worked with architect, Tom, he sat with me when needed to make sure the house is built as we imagined. His 3D was very amazing. Gary took the time to hear us out, helped us with many ideas, suggested some new and got us out of some as well (which I think was a good thing). Everything financial was transparent and on paper. Alison, is very knowledgeable and got us all the permits as quickly as she could. Lisa was always very sweet and helped get our messages to the right associate. Building is no joke, but if you have a builder you can trust, it becomes very easy. We are still in contact with Gary, since the first year the house settled needed some fixation. Joe, is an amazing and a very talented person! There is nothing he can’t fix. Kenny, our project manager was an easy person to talk to and kept us posted on the progress of our build. I only explained things to him without knowing terminology and he figured it out, every time. I showed them a small picture of staircase and they built it for us! That was amazing. I wanted to have a small get together with Oracle, my family, and friends before we started digging, and Gary helped me organize it without any hesitation. Gary’s whole team at his office is very friendly. If I build again, I will go with Oracle!
Dream Home, Delivered with Excellence by Oracle Homes, LLC After thorough research of local builders, it became clear that Gary Mello and the team at Oracle Homes were the perfect choice to build our dream house. From the very beginning, Gary impressed us with his attentiveness and professionalism. He took the time to understand our vision in detail, walking us through pricing, timing, and every step of the process. The plan and contract he provided were comprehensive, transparent, and left no room for surprises. Seeing the final result, I can confidently say our new house is everything I envisioned—and more. It’s truly stunning. Building a home can be an overwhelming process, but Gary and his team made it as seamless and straightforward as possible. The Oracle Homes team is exceptional. Starting with the architect who helped draft our plans, each member demonstrated incredible craftsmanship and expertise. Our Project Manager, Ken, was a standout—an absolute rockstar. Despite our living in another state throughout the build, Ken responded to every text and call promptly (usually the same day!) and ensured that every aspect of the project went according to plan. Alison was instrumental in coordinating with the Department of Public Works and the building inspector, ensuring everything ran smoothly. And Joe, who managed the final touches, is a true professional who ensured everything was flawless before we moved in. One of the remarkable aspects of working with Oracle Homes was their flexibility and willingness to adapt as our vision evolved. You truly don’t know what you’ll need until you see the foundation poured and walls going up. Gary and his team made it easy to incorporate additional features which we hadn’t initially planned, ensuring every detail of our home met our expectations. The team handling the electrical work was equally impressive—efficient and detail-oriented. During our electrical walkthrough, we received a thorough, itemized list that clearly outlined all charges, leaving no ambiguity. Transparency was a hallmark of the entire process. The vendor partners recommended by Oracle Homes were outstanding as well. From the exceptional service at Dartmouth Builders Supply/Design Center in Dartmouth, MA, to the beautiful selections at Best Tile in Warwick, RI, and Spritzo in Providence, RI, and the selection and service we received from Wickford Appliance in Pawtucket, RI, each partner contributed to making our home truly exceptional. Partnering with Gary and Oracle Homes was an absolute pleasure. This is a company built on transparency, integrity, and pride in craftsmanship. Gary’s active involvement in every project is evident in the quality of the homes he delivers. It’s hard to put into words how Oracle Homes transformed our ideas into a stunning home. The journey was as exciting as the result, and we are beyond grateful. Sharing some photos here to show how Oracle Homes turned our dream into a beautiful reality.
When I began looking for a house I noticed all the houses I liked were done by the same builder, Oracle Homes LLC. I decided that building a home was the way to go and I wanted Oracle to build it. Gary Mello the owner of Oracle Homes walks you through every step of the design process. I can't say enough about Josh the project manager on my build, as he was an absolute pleasure to work with. Josh and the team at Oracle are always very responsive through each step of the build. Whether its framing all the way through finish carpentry the quality and attention to detail are second to none with an Oracle home. I would recommend Oracle to anyone looking to build a truly custom home. My family couldn't be happier to be living in our Dream Home.
