Oscar's Moving Company works out of Newton, describing itself as in business for 18-plus years — its BBB accreditation dates back to 2007 — covering local moves across greater Boston and MetroWest plus long-distance jobs beyond Massachusetts. The last six months back that up with specifics rather than just star counts: 14 Google reviews, all five stars. One July customer's bill came in under the original estimate. Another liked the crew enough to request the same two movers again the very next day, and the office rearranged the second day's schedule after being told, after hours, that the keys wouldn't be ready until 9 a.m. A local music school and preschool used Oscar's again for a move and credited a rep named Rodney with making the process painless. In May, a crew handled a full three-bedroom house move that ran nearly 12 hours straight without losing its pace, and a named team — Silverio, Eulises, and Olvin — got singled out as flawless on another job. Several reviewers over this same stretch mention this wasn't their first time hiring Oscar's, which tracks with a company that's been doing this in the same town for close to two decades. A few things are worth asking about before booking. MoveBuddha's own analysis of the company puts its positive-review rate at 70% across 151 reviews it tracked — notably lower than the 4.8-star average on Google or 4.7 on Angi, and worth weighing alongside the strong recent run. Separately, federal inspection data on the company's trucks show a driver out-of-service rate of 37.5%, well above the 6.67% national average, which matters more for a longer interstate haul than a local move. And while nothing in the last six months raises a red flag, the company's longer review history includes a couple of serious complaints — a damaged piece of furniture and a claim of lost valuables — worth knowing about even though they don't reflect the current run of reviews. For a straightforward local or regional move, especially one where a homeowner wants the same crew back for a second day or a business relocation with a real point of contact, Oscar's recent track record is solid. Given the gap between its strong recent reviews and the lower MoveBuddha figure and safety-inspection numbers, it's worth getting a written, in-person estimate and asking directly about insurance coverage for higher-value items before signing on, particularly for a long-distance job.

Thoroughly impressed! Excellent customer service. Attention to detail. Kind, polite and thoughtful movers. No mess left behind. Price even came in below the estimate. Absolutely wonderful experience and we won’t hesitate to hire them again.

Oscar's Moving Company was, by far, the most reasonably priced movers! They were and are friendly, flexible and efficient. The movers were so wonderful that I asked for the same guys for the next day (moving out one day and into the new place the next day)! They were able to reschedule day 2 when I contacted them...after hours mind you...to let them know we wouldn't have the keys until 9 a.m. In fact, the neighbor was so impressed they asked me for their number! I gladly shared the info. I highly, highly recommend this family owned business! Nowadays it is hard to find honest to goodness, trustworthy people and businesses. Again...I recommend without any reservation!

We were very pleased with Oscar's Moving Company. We are a local music school and preschool and this was not our first move. When we realized we had to plan another move, I started to call around for quotes, I was surprised at just how expensive moving is now compared to years past. I called Oscar's since they were local and they were able to give me the best price but also the best service. Rodney was so attentive and informative and he made the sales process painless. The day of the move was a breeze, the movers were great and even offered to help us move items that we did not intend to need help with. 10 out of 10 would definitely recommend!
