Paintstar, LLC says on its website that it does painting and finishing along the Connecticut shoreline and has a track record of over two decades; on HomeAdvisor it says it has been in business since 2001. Its Connecticut home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0644986, held by PAINTSTAR LLC, is expired on the state registry, which lists it as "INACTIVE — DUE TO NON-RENEWAL OF CREDENTIAL." A 2025 customer said Paintstar stained the exterior of their home, and that the job also took in window frame, door and window sill replacement and interior ceiling repair and paint. A 2024 customer said Paintstar had repainted their entire first floor 11 years earlier, then came back for exterior touch-ups on porch railings and garage trim, found several more areas to address, and refinished a mahogany front door. That 2024 customer also hired Jonathon Bristol to replace the lock set and rehang the same door. A 2019 customer said Jonathan built and installed wood railings on the other side of every stairwell, matching woods and finishes so the new railings looked like they had always been there. A 2019 customer with a 1930s home said Jonathan and his team painted the walls and ceilings white while keeping many original wood features, and painted the kitchen cabinets in two matching colors. A 2018 customer said a two-man crew protected fixtures and furnishings and laid drop cloths over the carpets in the passageways. A 2018 customer said John and his team handled kitchen and family room remodeling and kept them informed all the way. A 2017 customer gave half a star after hiring Jonathan Bristol to spray paint interior flat doors for $800: that customer said three weeks later the doors still were not finished, he repeatedly did not show up, paint was left on the ceiling and floor, and the job was still not complete after a $600 payment. A 2017 customer who had kitchen cabinets painted said the work was fine but needed touch-ups a few times, and that scheduling was a problem.
