While I agreed to patch some holes with this ?extra material?, they quickly laid significantly more taking advantage of the situation, while also over measuring the area and overcharging. Concerning quality. Job was rushed. They definitely wanted to lay as much ASAP. They left many high edges which likely will be an issue in the future. While the work itself was okay (4 stars out of 5), the manner of how they approached us was sketchy. Claiming that they had extra asphalt from another job and they would only charge us $4.75 per sq ft labor and the material, normally $12 plus/sq foot, would be free. That in and of itself should have been a red flag. Still, we went ahead and had the job done as 4.75 would be in line based on a google price search of $3-$7 for labor AND material. Well, they did claim after the job was done that we would only pay $4.75/sq foot, but they over-measured the job significantly increasing the total. Fortunately they did drop the price after we complained about the total. We remeasured ourselves after they left. The price we ended up paying was in line with $4.75/sq ft. It was clear from the conversation with the men presenting us with the total that they expected to charge us as much as they could. In addition, in the end, we have only our check for proof of payment, they did not hand us an invoice upon completion of the job. My recommendation - get your job measured before work begins and get a firm written quote. As for the job itself, it would have been better to have the compacting roller actually roll the driveway in the direction that water will flow and not "against the grain". The initial part of the driveway was done that way, but as they got to the end of the driveway, they had a new load of asphalt and changed directions with the roller which has left a bit of a ridge. As for the employess on the job, very nice, friendly and they picked up well after themselves. No complaints in that department.
