Patterson Oil Company delivers fuel, and a recent Google customer says that when they first called for a delivery, the company ran a credit check, called back within a few minutes and set up an account and a delivery even though the customer had no credit. That customer says that almost three years later their credit score has increased. A 2022 customer who had switched from a different oil company said the technician on a preventative maintenance visit noticed a problem with an expansion tank, and that a new expansion tank was brought and hooked up with no issues. A 2023 customer said Patterson came out within 40 minutes for a last-minute gas shutoff ahead of a new floor installation. A recent customer who called about becoming a propane customer says the owner was rude and unhelpful on the phone. A 2026 customer who asked for a same-day 100-gallon oil delivery said Russ was rude and told them there would be an additional charge for same-day delivery. A 2025 customer said staff kept leaving their gate open after filling despite multiple requests, and that the last time their dog ended up chasing a bear. A 2023 customer wrote that the company installed a tank an elderly neighbor had not asked for, charged her for it, and later took both tanks without notice. A 2022 customer on propane auto delivery said the deliveries stopped after a few visits and that emergency fees were charged when they ran out.
“For approximately 75 years, the Patterson Oil Company, owned by Barry Patterson, has been in the business of reselli”
“Patterson Oil, along with six other Connecticut companies, is under investigation by the state Department of Consumer Protection under the direction of Gov. M. Jodi Rell.”
I've been a customer for a few years now. When I first called for a delivery, I was actually offered to set up an account upon the results of a credit check. I was up front with the fact that I had a low credit score. The gentleman I was talking with said " well I check into it and we can go from there. He called me back in just a few minutes and said " it's not that you have bad credit, you just have no credit. So with that finding we moved forward and set up an account as well as scheduled a delivery. Almost 3 years later in having the account with Patterson Oil Company my credit score has increased dramatically. They gave me a chance to prove my ability and I will always be thankful. Sincerely.
Three. For now. Russ, never forget.
With 15+ places in Connecticut to supply propane this is the LAST place I would ever recommend. Called to get information on becoming a new customer and the owner was incredibly rude and unhelpful on the phone. Offering no assistance or even advice on what to do. Immediately losing my business. Don’t even bother calling.
Called for an oil company for oil delivery. Talked to a person named Russ. Russ was very rude on the call. We asked about getting a delivery of 100 gallons. We needed that day we were getting low. He told us there will be an additional delivery charge over 95.00 dollars extra for same day delivery. We are quick bill payers but that didn't matter. Rudeness has no value. Patterson oil might be ok for some but my experience with them has been rude , insulting and most condescending. These are just the facts. No marks for servility. Your rude Russ. You are!!!
After multiple requests to ensure their staff close our out gate after filling to ensure our dog does not get out they continue to leave it open. This last time the gate was left open and our dog ended up chasing a bear. How inconsiderate and unsafe. This is such an easy and responsible thing to do. I can’t think of any other reason than laziness and a lack of consideration for their clients to leave a gate open, especially after multiple calls. Leaving a review here as clearly calling again and again makes no difference. Everything else is just fine but this is unacceptable.
